A Near Perfect Representation of Linden Blossoms
This is a Linden blossom scent. It smells just like and only like Linden blossoms. As no real Linden blossoms are used in perfumes as the extraction process is too difficult and costly, other florals, along with synthetics, are used to replicate their scent. In this case a delicately done mimosa, blended with the amber, mimics the honey sweetness of Linden blossoms in nature, and the violet leaves contribute to that realism by adding a fresh, green, slightly aquatic dimension, while the moss and cashmere wood an earthy accord. There are no violet flowers in this scent, nor does it smell like any are in it. Violet flowers and violet leaves are very different and not indistinguishable. They smell nothing alike. That aside, the notes that are actually used here do capture the scent of Linden trees in bloom. It’s startling to me how much this fragrance resembles the actual flowers in nature.
Out of all the Linden blossom fragrances I've tried (DHS French Linden Blossom, April Aromatics Unter den Linden, Jo Malone French Lime Blossom, Fragonard Tilleul Cedrat, Oscar de La Renta Something Blue, to name a few), this is hands down the most realistic Linden blossom perfume yet, though I haven’t tried D’Orsay’s Tilleul, (which is considered the Holy Grail by some). It is a very realistic interpretation of the Linden trees growing in my town when they are in full bloom. The scent of clusters of bright sunny yellow florets, hanging down like little golden stars from the trees, is an intoxicating, earthy, honey sweet floral scent which ushers in the start of summer. I wore this on several occasions when the Linden trees were in bloom and was astonished by how close it smelled to the actual thing. Not exact, and let's face it, no perfume can ever match a true floral exactly, but enough that it satisfies my craving for when the trees are no longer in bloom.
In a few more weeks my town is going to be awash in the scent of Linden blossoms, and I will once again be astonished at how much this perfume captures their charms.
