Jaïpur Bracelet Boucheron 2012

Different and totally fabulous!
I went out on a little testing mission recently, initially only to try out some Guerlain frags. I didn't realise that the first store I went to doesn't carry Guerlain, and disheartened I strolled around rejecting all the usual gumph until I spied this glorious pink bottle (I'm a bit of a sucker for pink!) lurking on the bottom shelf of a display case.
A faintly herbal and very fresh opening quickly subsides to really high quality muguet and soft, watery hyacinth. Lily of the Valley can sometimes have a very 'screechy' effect if handled without care. It's beautifully blended in Bracelet, bringing just the right amount of soft powder to the composition. A fair bit of Iris keeps Bracelet on the dry side into dry down ... which is comfortably lengthy!
The remarkable note here, however, is the sparkling violet leaf (reminding me a touch of Grey Flannel) wending it's way all the way down into the superb Cypress base.
Gents, look past the packaging of this one and try it, as Bracelet falls into a slightly more formal place than 'girly pinkness' to my nose.
It makes a lovely change from the rest of the boring masculine fare out there!
It's official ... I'm seriosly in love with this fragrance! It is posessed of superior sillage and longevity and made with high quality ingredients, as befits a fragrance from the makers of exquisite, high end jewellery! Definitely one to lay a stock of in.

The opening reminds strongly of Pure Poison, but it's just for a minute.

Jaipur Bracelet quickly becomes a skin scent, which is a pity. Today however is not a particularly hot day, on the contrary, so perhaps this is affecting the scent reaction on my skin. I will have to try it again in hotter days.

Back to the notes: at first spritz violets come forward, heralding the uplifting freshness of spring in all its glory. It's a clear and delightful note, not too sweet or heady.

About one hour into wearing it, the scent has gone rather quiet already. I just about can detect a ghostly bitter orange hand in hand with hyacint - by sniffing my wrist from very close.
These two create nonetheless a lovely concoction, well balanced and classy.
I don't find any iris, or carnation, just a tad of petigrain and neroli notes, faintly blending with the others.

Jaipur Bracelet is enchanting in its extraordinary balance speaking of mastery, and I love it, BUT: the weakness of sillage and longevity are a great disappointment.
As things stand, I would have to re-apply every hour or so in order to enjoy this magic spell.

Perhaps it's not by chance that Pure Poison and Jaipur Bracelet have been created by the same nose: they are fantastic frangrances, but both lack sillage and longevity.
A great pity!

UPDATE: After 24 hrs it is gripping on my wrist where I sprayed it about 10 times, but I have to stick my nose to the skin.

Jäipur Bracelet surprised me. I bought a small travel size on a lark and expected another generic floral. Instead, this is a well-balanced and absolutely beautiful fresh-floral: not heavy or cloying, but delicate and restrained. The lily of the valley is present but not overpowering, and it plays really well off of the iris notes. The green notes - especially the basil and cypress - make this a gorgeous bouquet, like a fistful of the first flowers and greens of spring clenched in the hand of a child. It's such a happy scent, mood lifting, so while it fits best in spring or summer weather, it could serve as a dopamine boost for those cold, dark winter days (northern hemisphere-wise). The scent lays pretty close to the skin, so sillage is not extreme, but I found the longevity to be pretty good - six or seven hours of performance before it's just a ghost of scent.

It's a butterfly and a butterfly lady, just to clarify. If there were only butterflies, they would have long been extinct, so today I’m taking on the role of the butterfly equality officer.
They are peacock butterflies. Butterfly and butterfly lady. They flutter over a freshly awakened spring meadow, still dewy and cool. They dance around each other. He grins at her, from one ear to the other, his large, white teeth flashing. (In case an expert is reading this: Butterflies don’t have large teeth - at least not white ones - and they don’t have ears either. I’ve added a bit of Disney touch here). She flutters her freshly mascaraed eyelashes. Female butterflies wear mascara!
Both settle on a branch. She licks up dew drops. In the background, there’s a soft crackling sound. It’s the sound of buds bursting open from the tree.
He sweet-talks her and gives her compliments. She fans herself with a violet leaf for some coolness. A delicate green scent cloud surrounds them, woven with herbs and spring freshness.
Butterfly shows butterfly lady his muscular calves. He is proud of his calves and imagines himself to be some sandal-wearing dude from a gladiator movie. “Look, these are frostbite marks from last night. If you blow on them, they won’t hurt so much. You know, it’s always best when the pain subsides.” She makes a pouting face and spits lemon juice on his hairy shins. With her wings, she fans him some cooling air. She makes him calf wraps out of intoxicatingly fragrant hyacinth petals. Just as he inhales the intoxicating scent through his nostrils - of course, butterflies don’t have nostrils, as they are only very distantly related to horse-like creatures - a panting bumblebee buzzes in and plops onto a branch.
Butterfly lady calls out: “Wow, you look completely worn out! What happened?”
The bumblebee wheezes: “I’ve been milking lily of the valley!”
A second bumblebee drifts over, all dusted with iris pollen (without carrots!). She exclaims: “White flowers! Every year in spring it’s a tough job with them! (picking flower remnants out of her teeth with a cedar needle). I’m always completely blown away by the enchanting scents.”
As both wipe the sweat from their foreheads, Butterfly calls out: “Maybe you should lose a bit of weight. I’m really surprised that you can fly, because that’s actually a physical impossibility!”
The two bumblebees stick their tongues out at him and shout: “You butterfly macho, we can do it and we do it!”
Buzzing, they fly off, trailing a glittering green cloud behind them.

Now I've been sitting here for a while and I'm amazed, astonished, fascinated, what am I actually?
Actually all of that together, because today I'm wearing Jaipur Bracelet.

I've actually had the scent for some time. And it was actually bought rather by chance and worn rather rarely. At first, I didn't really like it that much, but actually, it just wouldn't leave my mind.

And today, yes today I had to wear this scent, because this wonderful floral freshness of hyacinth and then also LILY OF THE VALLEY, (I just love these delicate, small, white flowers), has been enchanting me the whole time. It is a wonderful, fine, fresh scent, more like in May than in April, - strange that I didn't notice that before.

Really weird what the weather does to the brain. The past few days it has rained, it has snowed, it was a dreary NOT-spring weather. And today the sun is shining and I have those longing fresh spring flower feelings again. And for me, this scent is currently the fulfillment of all those feelings.

It's not just like a bracelet but also wraps around me like a necklace.

Simply delightful this spring :-)
