A journey
Under the tropics of Zanzibar, a soft and creamy vanilla unfolds. A hint of pear and jasmine, discreet and almost shy, brightens the composition with a delicate sparkle.

Mandarin, on the other hand, brings a slight bitterness that elegantly balances the whole. It lends this vanilla a rare sophistication, far from sugary clichés.

Vanille de Zanzibar is a dance of well-crafted contrasts: sweet but not cloying, fruity yet never gourmand. A delicate and mysterious invitation to travel thanks to the resins that give it an undeniable oriental, warm and spicy side.

P.S.: Be cautious with the mandarin note, I've read below that some people cannot tolerate it.

Rausch
Just now, Mrs. Can came hissing and scolding down our hallway.
She complained loudly about the noise I was making while packing the fragrance parcels I was about to send.
She: I can't understand a word of my series, constantly this rustling!
I, passing by: Smell my wrist, it's something new... Vanilla, you like that!
She smelled my hand. It felt like an eternity... Silence........!
Then she curled the corners of her mouth into a smile that was at least as big as the largest vanilla pod in the universe, her eyes became glassy and looked hypnotized, and she floated like a light being into the laundry room,... still wordless and smiling.
This is a reaction that Vanilla de Zanzibar can provoke,... Speechlessness. Amazing, right???

Vanilla de Zanzibar is an intoxication, a true vanilla intoxication.
A dream, a delicious dream like I haven't smelled in a long time.
A fruity pear liqueur gradually merges with a creamy-soft and powdery
vanilla that couldn't be more beautiful. The whole thing is underscored by delicate heliotrope sprinkles. Creamy and soft, this scent weaves its way. Seductive and sinful, it comes across never too sweet or sticky, thanks to the skillful addition of creamy-soft sandalwood and
an extremely chocolatey and slightly smoky patchouli.
How delicious!

Conclusion
Boucheron has really put in the effort for its new collection and created true fragrant
delicacies. Fine and balanced. Sensual and elegant. Fascinating and alluring.
And at a very good price. 125ml for €192. I call that fair.
Longevity: 12 hours... quite easily!
Sillage: Not to be underestimated. You can smell yourself for hours on end. Quite strong.
Gender: Unisex,... it makes both weak,... certainly!

Vanilla de Zanzibar has also put me in a state of intoxication, in a state full of sensual euphoria and unrestrained enthusiasm.
It is my personal favorite, and there are five more specimens.
Amber, Oud, Tuberose, Neroli, and Iris... this is going to be expensive!
I've already had the chance to test them all. Yes!,... it will definitely be expensive.

By the way,... Mrs. Can is talking again. The first thing she said was......

......Want to have it,... quickly!

Exotic Vanilla from Distant Lands
Zanzibar is a state that belongs to Tanzania, a country in Africa that is famous for its animal, but above all, human fossils. So it's practically the place that has brought you all forth, and I now have you all here at my neck... well, okay, my great-great-great-great-great-grandparents and I myself probably all come from there :DD

I think many states there are definitely worth a visit, as there are surely beautiful, exotic areas with interesting cultures and people. Such a cultural trip could certainly open the eyes of some philistines, especially those who still think Africa is "a country" :D

Now comes a scent that is probably one of the favorite notes of the ladies here: vanilla. By the way, it fits quite well with the autumn now!

The scent:
The fragrance starts with a delicate and powdery vanilla that smells both authentic and very pleasant. A slight fruitiness is noticeable, but if I hadn't looked at the fragrance pyramid, I would have guessed lemon here, as a light citrus note wafts in the background. Instead, it is the mandarin... hmm... could be, you can't really smell that note very well. And despite the fruity feeling, I also have difficulty distinctly recognizing the pear. However, the jasmine is immediately noticeable like the vanilla, and you can recognize it by its typically sweet scent.
Hmm... I know that fragrance impressions are often different, but I catch whiffs of tobacco, albeit very lightly. It's not listed below and might just be my perception, but somehow it smells that way to me. The vanilla gradually becomes stronger and more powdery. It mainly smells sweet, especially with the mentioned jasmine, but not overwhelmingly sweet. With powdery and soft or balsamic notes, the fragrance is already a dream for vanilla lovers.
Then, for a long time, you actually only smell the vanilla, so that the nuances of the fragrance become "apparent" only when sniffing closely (e.g., the previously mentioned tobacco note or a honey-like sweetness in addition to the sweetness of the jasmine). Actually, the scent remains like this until the end and always smells good.

The sillage and longevity:
The sillage is above average at the beginning and thus quite noticeable. Even later, you can still perceive the scent on someone or in the vicinity, although not as strongly as at the beginning. All in all, the projection is quite okay.
Vanilla scents seem to last forever anyway, and this one is no different. It may be that the sillage is a bit less strong than with some other vanilla scents, but this fragrance lasts easily around ten hours.

The bottle:
The bottle with the thick glass bottom is cylindrical and clear, giving a rather high-quality impression. On the label, which has a gilded frame, you can see the name of the fragrance in gilded letters. The neck is round and tiered and gilded. The brand name is engraved on the top ring of the neck. The cap is white and also has gilded accents. A beautiful bottle.

Sooo…
As I already mentioned during the scent description, this fragrance is a feast for vanilla freaks. Because aside from the fresh and slightly lemony-fresh start, you mainly smell a beautiful, gentle, and slightly powdery vanilla for the majority of the fragrance's development. The scent is not strong enough to overwhelm everyone in the vicinity, but strong enough to be pleasantly noticeable for a while.

It envelops both the wearer and the immediate surroundings in a fine vanilla cloud, making you feel quite comfortable in it, as long as you like vanilla. Men might appear more attractive with the scent (which does have a slightly more feminine vibe) (or?? Tell me!! :D), and the ladies would be, as always, mouth-wateringly delicious :D

Zanzibar is a fragrance that vanilla fans should not miss and should definitely try at least once.

another enchanting facet
For decades, I steered clear of vanilla scents: they were simply annoying to me!
So my astonishment is naturally great now, as I have been feeling quite at home with the diverse creations surrounding this pod for a few months.
Even though I cannot place the origin of the fruits, I am repeatedly surprised by the different fragrance experiences they create.

I only think of "Vanille Absolument" by L'Artisan Parfumeur: a intoxicating mixture that I could eat with a spoon!
To the delicacy of "Jour de Fête," which L'Artisan Parfumeur already hints at in the soft pink of the bottle.
Or to the five fairy-like vanilla creations by Sylvaine Delacourte, which delighted me thanks to Alöx and which inspired five comments due to their differentiation. Each one deserves it.
Annick Goutal's vanilla goddess quickly and persistently captured me, and now comes "Vanille de Zanzibar" by Boucheron: a brand that I feel very comfortable with anyway.
Just the pyramid alone is intriguing!

Here, vanilla once again shows itself in one of its many facets: creamy white, smooth, and generously embracing as usual, but with a fine fruity note.
Pear and jasmine - what a dream pair! The delicate, bright pear aroma is surrounded by the fragrance fullness of the large-blooming jasmine.
Ripe, light yellow pears nestle against the large, intensely fragrant jasmine flowers; the dark green foliage completes a beautiful still life that could well be laid on a layer of heavy cream-white velvet.
Mandarin provides a zesty freshness, without biting or buzzing too much, before the heart note reveals itself in intoxicating beauty.
Wrapped in heavy wool-white lush folds, the warming, all-encompassing vanilla draws in.
It is supported by the dark violet vanilla flower, which does not hold back with its scent: a cornucopia of additional sensuality is poured out here!
Not enough of the vanilla-like fragrance fullness yet: Peru balsam makes an appearance!
I always shudder slightly when I imagine this balsam being caught in rags that are then boiled.
But, be that as it may: the skin aspect is the effect!
And it adds a very special nuance to this previous fragrance lady: balsamic, slightly bitter, and ideally harmonizing through its ingredients benzoin, cinnamic acid, and vanillin.
Thus, "Vanille de Zanzibar" not only develops a slightly floral-fruity sweetness but also acquires a hint of spicy resin.
I see fine dark brown balsam flowing into creamy white crème, drawing arbitrary patterns within it.
Perhaps like white marble veined with golden brown?
Or better: aromatic white nougat with a light caramel marbling?
But whatever the imagination may draw: white musk - here even fitting in my perception - appears and is immediately accompanied by the slightly scratchy sandalwood and the golden beauty of patchouli.
Thus, from all these precious fragrance materials, a truly intoxicating final phrase is composed.
The conductor has learned his craft and leads his fragrance orchestra with confidence!

Boucheron's "Vanille de Zanzibar" reveals itself as a vanilla scent being that clings to the skin in sensually flowing movements, conquering you and settling there lazily for some time.
As noble as this vanilla goddess is, so is her presence: she is present from the very first pear scent-laden moment, but never loud, never annoying, or even felt sticky, although seemingly born of syrup or crème. A refined sweetness that could be dedicated to the goddess Venus.

"Vanille de Zanzibar" bids farewell elegantly and as lightly as a spirit: a graceful trace remains, reminiscent of lovingly spent hours and still containing warmth.
A smile remains!

Vanilla Exquisite
Wow, what a scent!

I stumbled upon Vanille de Zanzibar while researching vanilla fragrances. It has been on my watchlist since I registered here. Thanks to a swap with a lovely perfumer, I now have the pleasure of owning it.

The scent:
Vanilla is in the name, and you definitely get vanilla. A lot of vanilla. But not just that :-)
Right upon spraying, a wonderful, lush, sweet, very spicy-vanilla scent unfolds. The sweetness here is not sugary but has a comforting heaviness that gently and smoothly settles on the skin and nose.
With my eyes closed (and a bit of imagination), I initially perceive a slight fruity hint, which, if present at all, remains in the background.
I think this very aromatic, slightly resinous spice is partly due to jasmine, but mainly to Peru balsam.
This balsam is also attributed with anxiety-relieving, calming, and stress-reducing properties; it is said to contribute to physical and mental well-being and inner calm... which makes the scent a perfect companion for autumn and winter.
Many people do not like the darker and colder seasons. I can imagine that a cozy, warm comfort scent like this contributes greatly to harmony and a better mood. Of course, this is assuming one enjoys this fragrance direction. And for people like me, who really love autumn and winter, Vanille de Zanzibar is all the more a wonderful companion.

On my skin, there is not a very differentiated scent progression. The spicy sweetness remains for a long time (five, six hours) and gradually becomes weaker and closer to the skin. Towards the end, a delicate, still vanilla musk remains. I do not recognize patchouli and sandalwood, but they surely round out the base harmoniously.

The bottle is a dream - very simple, yet heavy and elegant due to the metal application above the glass, with a high-quality, heavy cap.

So, if you like vanilla with a certain something, and not just "sweet," you should definitely try Vanille de Zanzibar.

A scent when grinding vanilla biscuits into coarse particles. Basically, it smells delicious, but I don't think it's worth the price.

A delicate, cozy vanilla scent that gradually loses its initial candy-like sweetness. I like it, but it's nothing special.

Woody-powdery vanilla. Green jasmine in the opening, cherry-anise-like heliotrope note and sweet, candy-like resin. Nice and uncomplicated.
