Best Scent From Her

Island Fantasy is sugary and sweet. It opens with a BURST of berries, with a hint of citrus. Then it comes into a beautiful heart of violet and that's all. Then it finishes of with a sweet girly sugar cane. It lasts a really long time on my skin. 7 hours at least. Well done Britney! :)

Not the most impressive Britney fragrance

Fantasy Island slightly disappoints me. It's mostly a sour citrus on me, I really hoped I would get more of a distinctive watermelon, instead it is extremely watery and overpowered by the citrus. The watermelon does become slightly more noticeable as the initial blast of citrus fades. I still like the smell of the fragrance, it's just not what I expected it to be.

Longevity is absolutely dreadful on my skin when I only spray it once. It will only stay noticeable for a longer period of time when I put it on the inside of my elbows or clothes. I also sprayed it on my wrists, but I couldn't smell it any more after just 30 minutes. I've had eau de toillete that lasted a lot longer than that, so that's no excuse either. When I apply 2 or more sprays to my wrist the scent does actually stay put a lot longer, it will linger around for about 6 hours.

Fantasy Island is a nice scent for warm summer and spring days. Whenever I wear it I will just overspray it, otherwise it would barely even be noticeable.

I love the scents from Britney Spears and I can also enjoy the 135th edition of Fantasy. I got Island Fantasy relatively late, as the whole setting didn't particularly interest me, I didn't like the advertising poster, and I thought it would be an overly coconut-laden, extremely sweet Eau de Toilette.

The bottle stands out from the other Fantasy bottles in that it is transparent, which I personally quite like. The bottle is turquoise at the bottom and transitions to green at the top. I like the bottle better in real life than in photos and, in my opinion, it is one of the prettiest Fantasy bottles. The box is more in shades of blue, but for the 100ml version, it is huge and therefore looks bulky.

Right after the first spray, I can clearly smell the mandarin. The mandarin is not too overpowering or intrusive, but rather pleasantly fruity. In the background, I smell other fruits that my nose cannot identify individually. After a few minutes, I feel that the mandarin pulls back a bit and makes way for the watermelon. The watermelon also doesn't smell too sweet, but like freshly cut. These are the two components I could have identified even without the fragrance notes.

The watermelon remains detectable for me almost until the end, only later do the floral notes come to the forefront, but not in an intrusive or extremely floral way. At this stage, the scent is already much weaker, yet still noticeable. Just before the scent disappears, it becomes slightly creamy and sweet, but the sweetness here is nothing compared to the other Fantasy scents.

The longevity for me is not particularly impressive at 2-3 hours, but it is an Eau de Toilette, which makes that acceptable, I think. I would rate the sillage as pleasant; about a meter in front of me, someone can still perceive the scent (when freshly applied).
The scent surprised me a lot; it is not as sweet as the other Fantasy variations and is especially incredibly pleasant to wear on warmer days. This would definitely be an EdT that I would take on a beach vacation and I enjoy wearing it very much, especially with the current temperatures.

How did the pineapple sneak in here?

The bottle looks like one of those colorful glass beads from which I’ve crafted numerous costume jewelry necklaces! I love that kind of thing! For that reason alone, I had to order it! The little bottle was available online at a good price.
And I am extremely positively surprised by the scent! Based on the ingredients, I would have expected a typical fruity-sweet (and thus interchangeable) summer perfume, like many others out there...
Yes, IF is fruity, the sweetness is moderate, but this fruit mix is truly unusual; I haven’t smelled anything like it before! And it’s exactly this combination that tricks me into perceiving a pineapple scent, even though that note isn’t actually present! To me, it feels like an exotic fruit cocktail based on pineapple juice, adorned with a floral vine.
It doesn’t fade away as quickly on me (or rather, it doesn’t escape my nose’s perception) as some other summer perfumes.
That was quite a lucky purchase!

Almost surprising...

Anyone who knows Spears's creations knows what to expect:

A thick, heavy, foggy cloud of sugar, with sugar, garnished with sugar, a little fruity notes AND OF COURSE SUGAR that can take your breath away in overdose or send you into a diabetic shock. :)

I don't want to speak negatively about her creations, I like them... on others and in small doses, on myself they lead to a certain degree of nausea sooner or later, as they also cling to you forever and annoyingly... ;)

Now back to the little island. :) I must say the bottle intrigued me from the start, it looks summery and fresh. I like! :)

Then came the surprising effect when sniffing... Citrus!! A whole lot of it! So much that one might think the fragrance alchemist thought... Ah screw sugar, I'll just throw in citrus instead of sugar and see what happens... *kaboom* and the new scent is ready! :)

Nevertheless, this very citrusy and thus lighter little fragrance is much better in my nose than the *SugarInYourFace* variant! ;D The sweetness of the scent is slightly perceptible in the background after the first citrus overload and gives the whole thing a slightly creamy touch. This gives the scent a somewhat autumnal feel for me - because of the mandarins and the creaminess reminds me of pastries - and I like that! :) Also, the flowers come through after a while and round everything off.

The scent lasts long and there is no nausea. :D Conclusion: it can also be done with a ton less sugar, even better for the slim figure! ;) :P So far the best scent from Britney for me :D
