Sweet Potato & Carrot
I’m honored to leave the first review for this fragrance! Out of all six of the Les Jardins Francais (LFJ) collection, this one stood out the most to me and is my personal favorite.
I wouldn’t say its a photorealistic sweet potato or a carrot. It’s more like a hazy, golden caramel blur… something inspired by sticky, caramelized sweet potatoes after being roasted. A honeyed sweetness unlike a vanilla gourmand or fruit. Carrots, too, have a subtle sweetness to them if you think about it.
I don’t think anyone would clock this as a sweet potato scent, or carrot, and especially not a vetiver scent. It’s just pleasant and lightly sweet.
In my experience, all of Buly’s scents are pretty linear, but I don’t mind that at all. And in fact, if I remember correctly, it was done intentionally via their water-emulsion formula instead of the traditional alcohol base.
