Soie Malaquais

Loads of blackcurrant and bergamot in the initial spray, which then begin an elegant, intertwining dance with chestnut, cocoa, and vanilla. This dance goes on for hours. At some point you notice that soft, silken rose petals have joined the intricate weave, but they remain very much in a supporting role, adding only their additional beauty to the whole.

Rich and smooth, this scent is ideally suited to winter and late autumn. It’s sweet and a touch powdery, verging on gourmand. Longevity is excellent (8+ hours on my skin). Projection is perfect; noticeable but not in any way overpowering. This is definitely a scent that garners compliments.

Over hyped imo

This reminds me of something I can’t put my finger on… chocolate candy wrapper? With a bit of rose. Need to test on skin. I have a feeling this would do well in cooler climates, I don’t think this is something for me. I live in a hot and humid climate, where I can see this being too much. I wanted to love this so bad! The bottle is STUNNING, the juice is okay.

Notes soft and shimmering like silk

To me, this is Zadig & Voltaire This is Her's elegant older cousin. They don't really smell alike, but they are the same type of scent, just executed differently: Vanilla scents with a noticeable chestnut note, clean and versatile for daytime use.
Soie Malaquais is less sweet and more complex.

The foundation of the scent is a warm vanilla adorned with roasted chestnuts. It's gourmand-ish, but doesn't smell completely edible, there is something clean and smooth about how the notes are done.
I never noticed that silk has a specific scent, but the texture of this fragrance definitely feels silky.
The subtle additions of rose and blackcurrant help with that.
To me this is a chameleon of a scent that plays hide and seek with your nose. One moment I get a pop of juicy currant, the next there is a touch of sticky caramelized chestnut, and then you try to catch these notes and everything smells like creamy rose and soft vanilla again.

I love the bottle, the contrast of the porcelain-like pattern and the dark red liquid is so intriguing and special. To be honest, I expected a different kind of scent from this presentation, maybe darker and heavier on the rose and currant - but I still find the actual fragrance quite fitting after smelling it.
All in all, it's a beautiful scent.

Silky cacao

Soie malaquais really travels through every note and keeps you engaged as it develops on your skin. It does open up fruity and almost freshly clean, but the cacao and chestnuts take over making this a bit dense but silky smooth and giving it a mature edge for me. Somehow, you are also able to catch the rose mixed with a creamy vanilla, very multifaceted.

This is another perfume that reminds me of Mrs. Howard from Abbott elementary— the most perfect hair, elegant necklaces, and nurturing. The bottle depicts the scent really well and though I really enjoy the creativity behind the fragrance, this is not for me as it pulls too chocolatey and suffocates me a bit despite it having low projection imo.

A very pretty composition, as lovely as its bottle.

Here we have a duo of rose, made intensely fruity by blackcurrant – almost candied – and chestnut. Cocoa comes in later and lingers in the background, yet it remains noticeable.

It’s a gourmand, but an elegant one; despite its sweetness, this Soie Malaquais never falls into sticky patisserie territory. It’s a charming little candy, dainty and delicate, as if it came out of a porcelain box.
