Blech, blech and more blech!!!
I'm really not sure whether it's my perception that has changed or the fragrances that have changed ... although I am betting more towards the latter. In 'flanker-ville', Eternity is probably one of the fragrances most comedic in its proliferation ... today I am unlucky enough to be sampling version 2012.

Let me hasten to add that this experiment is not of my own doing ... a colleague just whacked three hefty sprays to the back of my hand asking "well ... what do you think of this one?". Blech is what I think.

One's nose is immediately assaulted by a barrage of (ostensibly) green ozonic notes, which is probably nothing more than a hefty helping of Calone ... although I cannot find anything online to substantiate this idea. I was unlucky enough to try DKNY Men yesterday which does reportedy contain Calone ... and Eternity Summer 2012 has the same feel. I may be jumping to a conclusion here but my nose tells me otherwise.
The 'fruitchouli'/white musk base here is one I have come to detest in modern perfumery. It is nagging and relentless, posing for great longevity while simply being irritating. I'm really not sure why anyone would want to smell like this, but I fall completely out of the demographic that fragrances such as these are aimed at. I can imagine that this one is quite popular with the spotty youths hanging out under the bleachers at recess while stealing a quick smoke and hoping for a quick snog. Woe betide teachers of adolescent youngsters!

Being quite a fan of pre-reformulation Eternity I am somewhat surprised by my instant dislike of Summer 2012. As if reformulation wasn't enough of an affront to my olfactory nature, it seems that Eternity's flankers have, one by one, fallen out of the ugly tree, hitting every branch on the way down.

Avoid at all costs!!!
