Classic
This was my first Carthusia. The fragrances are something special for me. Just the scent pyramids list a multitude of fragrance notes. This somewhat reminds me of the perfumes from the 1970s and 80s, where this was probably the norm.
And this scent is also somewhat old-fashioned for me. However, I would rather call it "classic." After all, there are fashionable details that never really go out of style. This is the case here as well.
These floral soap aldehydes are just not used as intensely in the new fragrances anymore.
Here on Parfumo, there are often calls for "real perfumes" to be smelled when new releases come out, and not just gourmand sugary water. This is a real perfume.
At first, I smell the full load of soap aldehydes, hairspray from the 1980s. The green notes are also immediately prominent.
When I first only had the sample, I initially kept my distance because the intensity of the scent is almost overwhelming when you dab it on your skin. It is a very concentrated fragrance and extremely intense. By no means a typical Eau de Toilette.
This perfume works better when you use just a veil of it.
Either walk into the spray mist from above or spray it into your palms and distribute the scent on your body. Then it appears "somewhat" more transparent, if that can even be said. It never becomes delicate, however. It becomes wearable and beautiful and is no longer too intense.
Today is a 30° degree September day, and the scent fits perfectly into the day despite the super sillage. It actually radiates a green coolness, reminds me a bit of No 19, but a bit more robust. It retains the soapiness for a long time, and it indeed becomes too overpowering if you apply too much of the fragrance. The scent then becomes so strong that it covers all other smells on and near the body. For me, a fragrance should blend with my scent. I want to still recognize it; otherwise, I would say "it's not my perfume." So apply sparingly...
I find it excellent to get so much fragrance for little money here and prefer to use a bit less. I really like this type of fragrance bomb.
I rated the sillage at 100%, and the longevity is also impressive. It lasts about 9-12 hours on the skin.

Normally, I find this type of green, fresh fragrances somewhat unsexy on me. But my husband sees it quite the opposite with Caprissimo. He finds the scent very sexy. He has already given me a lot of compliments for it.
Now I have to say that he is particularly attracted to animalistic and somewhat dirty notes in fragrances. So there must be something in here.
I might not notice it as much because of the soapiness. But I can't name it.

In any case, I find the scent great, intense, fresh, green, classic, elegant. I am glad that I received a sample and was able to snag the bottle cheaply at the souk.

I also found Ligea Eau de Toilette from Carthusia worth buying, which is sweet-powdery. A completely different scent, not as long-lasting, but also very beautiful.

More Capri? Is that possible?
For me, Carthusia is uncharted territory. Beautiful bottles, coats of arms, Fraktur script, such things make an impression and raise expectations. Hopefully, it’s not just “looks good on the outside and mediocre on the inside” - little waters.

Capri - the wonderful island, conveniently located in the Gulf of Naples, tempts one to indulge and dream. However, I don’t want to dwell on that for long. The start of Caprissimo is somewhat unpleasant in the first breaths, faintly reminiscent of shoe polish from the 1970s. With the mist, this impression fades, and for a short time, it becomes quite floral. A large bouquet of flowers rushes towards me, richly adorned with all sorts of embellishments, spices, and herbs.

The floral start is unusually powerful, although the balance suffers under the weight of the many ingredients. It feels as if I am standing in the florist's shop next door. It quickly flattens out, but remains heavily floral. Some varieties of petunias have that same vague, floral character, which is what this Caprissimo reminds me of. In fact, it is almost impossible to separate individual accords. Aside from the roses, there aren’t really any prominent soloists to be expected.

And so it remains, even until the evening. Slightly bitter, floral, and in the afternoon hours, a tiny bit soapy. There isn’t much transformation in Caprissimo. Directly on the skin, it is still noticeable the next day.

I’m still puzzling over how this relates to Capri. Of course - Carthusia is based on the island. Perhaps it’s the vegetation? Probably not. Aquatic or salty, Caprissimo is definitely not. Should it be seen metaphorically? Is Caprissimo meant to flatter the beauty of the island?

To summarize: Almost from the beginning, Caprissimo is a subtle, slightly bitter, somewhat dull, and too coarse floral scent that shows a soapy hint towards the end. It strikes me as being out of time, yet not outdated or old-fashioned. More suited for warm days. Quite suitable for women, but there are prettier floral scents that bring out the feminine aspect better.

To answer the initial question: More is almost always possible, but here it only reaches the comparative, so just Capris and less Caprissimo. With such a statement, I want to smell spring on a Mediterranean island - or at least summer. A quick run through the flower bed and throwing everything in the mixer doesn’t make for spring. The overall verdict is therefore rather meager at around 60%. Thanks to the long-lasting nature and the beautiful bottle, it wasn’t rated even lower.

I received the sample from Angelliese. My heartfelt thanks for this rather unusual scent impression.

When the Rascal from Capri Runs Amok
Caprissimo, the rascal of the island of Capri, is a cheeky fellow with an ugly mask who loves to scare impatient fragrance lovers!
So be prepared when he once again runs amok and tries to frighten a newcomer away! Essentially, he can be compared to the ghost of Canterville (Oscar Wilde) in his nature and antics.
Not that Caprissimo is supposed to have murdered his wife or left bloodstains on the carpet, no, heaven forbid, he doesn't even rattle chains! He is actually just a poor spirit who wants to be freed by a loving person. A rascal in a bottle, who vehemently tries to protect his elixir, which he finds so irresistible. And we know that bottle spirits can become quite unpleasant...
Well then, there he sits in the neck of the bottle, lurking for every unsuspecting soul to shamelessly attack!

I too have fallen for his tricks.....

The heavenly messenger rings and hands me a package with a smile. Caprissimo, my new companion for the summer, has arrived, HURRAY! I am lucky that he misbehaved right from the start with his last friend and had to leave :-) I suspect nothing.....
Unpacking and taking him out of his decorative packaging, he stands naked before me. How beautiful! I love the classic shape of the Carthusia bottles! Expectantly, I remove the cap and sniff at the sprayer. "Musty"! Caprissimo must not have washed his feet this morning, or did he perhaps fart? What manners! It’s starting off quite promising, I think to myself!
It's a bit unpleasant, but not off-putting enough for me to turn away from him immediately. So I bravely spray a strong burst on my arm and just as I am about to curiously nudge my nose against it, a foul spicy note hits me, making me immediately suspect the worst:
The rascal has tipped over and is dying.
As I am momentarily distracted by my disappointment, the suspicious rascal shamelessly seizes the opportunity, leaps from his cover, and delivers a hard slap of concentrated turpentine!
Pah, I’m feeling quite dizzy! The rascal is alive after all!
My concerns about decay were perhaps a bit premature, but that doesn’t necessarily make things better. Because with such a nasty fellow by my side, I will probably become quite unpopular!
The rascal grins and feels almost like a victor as I decide to stubbornly confront him.
We stand facing each other for a while, nose to nose, tooth for tooth!
However, when he realizes that he can no longer scare me with all his antics, he gives up and tears off his hideous mask! To my astonishment, beneath it is a friendly, warm-hearted light green face that is freshly creamed and exudes a wonderful scent! Hard to believe, the monster has turned into a little prince who turns out to be extremely lovable.
Now I have been cuddling with the very intimate Caprissimo for a while
and could actually be satisfied with the world! Or?

But didn’t I mention it?

As soon as the rascal goes to sleep, he forgets that you have made friends with him...

...and...

attacks you again at the next encounter!

So be prepared when he runs amok again!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Conclusion: Those who endure the first few minutes will be rewarded with a creamy green floral note at the heart that unfolds incredibly softly....
A beautiful, actually very unobtrusive, intimate summer fragrance that I can truly recommend to you. Provided one (or rather, one woman) is willing to put up with a few cheeky antics at the beginning :-))
Longing for Hot Summer Days
Caprissimo is the most citrusy and bitter of the Carthusia scents I have tested so far. There are no playful Italian moments, no cheerful vacation vibes, but rather stimulation, refreshment, and cleanliness.
It takes a while for the overly lemony-sour top note to pass. Then Caprissimo becomes pleasantly cool and is definitely a blessing on hot summer days when you don't feel like wearing a real perfume. The floral heart is rather green and understated, and even the myrrh in the drydown is more sensed than smelled. I perceive Caprissimo as a more refined Ô de Lancôme.
I ordered Caprissimo blindly because I have been enthusiastic about all the Carthusia scents I have tested so far. The fragrance arrived on one of the coldest days of this year, and so the disappointment was initially great. It did not appeal to me at all at first. A few days ago, when the sun was shining here and I could leave the balcony door open for several hours, a new test showed that Carthusia certainly has something to say. However, I will really wait for a new attempt until the outside temperatures also call for refreshment. Caprissimo deserves another chance.
Still, I would have preferred to spend that money on Ligea di Sirena. But what is not, can still become.
Green, spicy, sun-drenched. Reminds me a bit of Fidji, but it's much sweeter.
A great potpourri of fresher flowers along with their leaves and stems, underpinned by a soft sandalwood base. Lovely!
A chypre, refined, slightly old-fashioned but wearable, intense, noble. I want some of that. :-)
Very overwhelming chypre, a very animalic scent of white floral blend and in the base oak moss (not listed) + patchouli. Too much of everything.
