Gelsomini di Capri Carthusia 2017 Eau de Parfum

A creamy, sweet jasmine saturated with lemon meringue and orange blossom, Gelsomini di Capri seems fashioned for the extroverted yet conservative aesthete to wear on a balmy summer day. This is not a jasmine for jasmine LOVERS, and you know who you are. Do not expect ripe, wet, indolic, sensuous or dusky. This is light and lively, fresh and exuberant.

I have a preference for the sunny, yet dynamic Le Jardin Retrouvé Jasmin Majorelle when desiring an elevated, warm weather jasmine, but Gelsomini di Capri is well-crafted and certainly wouldn't offend me on another wearer, especially as it isn't a powerhouse. I just like a little more meat and mystery on my jasmine.

In spring and summer I love to wear colognes but unfortunately often the sillage and longevity of those kind of scents aren't impressive.
So I'm very happy to have found this Eau de Parfum for summer which presents herself as a cologne, but acts like an Eau de Parfum.
On my skin the sweetness of Jasmine is toned down a little by the orange-y notes and together they can create a slight 'bubble gummy' effect, but not in a synthetic or cheap way.
This fragrance is very versatile: at times you'll get the more orangy notes from the top untill the jasmin, with a sweet little voice, will say: "Hey, I'm in here too!". But nothing indolic as in other Jasmin forward perfumes.
In the sillage of this perfume, after drydown, there is something very clean in a diaphanous way, like the distant trail of expensive powders (though - to my nose - it is not powdery at all) and make-up (without it being lipstick-y). Maybe that's the cashmere wood along with the labdanum?
Very unique scent and very Italian I think (which is not a surprise, considering the name of this scent) with a kind of 'niche' quality. I love the bottle too, reminds me of old bathrooms in Italian movies.
Sillage and longevity are impressive without being loud or bold.
I really would like to explore this brand more!

Edit: I sprayed this on yesterday morning and can clearly smell it on me this morning...on my skin this lasts eternally it seems.

I have been searching for a jasmine scent that smells like the jasmine I imagine for a long time. Most jasmine perfumes are overwhelming and smell like cat pee… but not this one. It is wonderfully floral and beautifully rounded. I consider it a hidden gem. Super cheerful and bright. The longevity is okay, nothing groundbreaking. For all those who love jasmine, this perfume is a treasure. It has something aristocratic, very feminine about it that captivates you immediately. I think a true princess would have this scent in her collection as well.

Today, a long-forgotten fragrance came rolling into my hands, namely "Gelsomini di Capri". It's snowing outside and it's cold, so I wanted to treat myself to a bit of summer feeling.
The scent definitely spreads summer vibes, albeit a rather one-dimensional one. In the first few minutes, you can still sense citrus fruits, but they quickly dissipate, leaving only jasmine. Now, one could point out that this is only logical since jasmine is already in the name. Interestingly, gelsomini means both jasmine and fragrance. So, I’m not sure what exactly is meant by the title. Perhaps Capri simply smells of jasmine.
A look at the fragrance pyramid reveals that there should actually be a few other notes present, which I unfortunately cannot detect.
I do not notice the pepper or the ginger, nor the rose or other components of the heart note. They are all overshadowed by the jasmine.
I really don’t want to say that "Gelsomini di Capri" is a bad fragrance, not at all! The jasmine is very authentic and, contrary to expectations, just stays below the threshold of sticky, kitschy sweetness. I wrote that in my statement two months ago as well. For lovers of jasmine scents, it should be perfect.
What I find disappointing, however, is the drydown. A rather dusty, sour note slithers over the skin. Until then, the scent remains very pleasantly stable.
Personally, I miss a counterpoint to the lovely floral notes. Something fresh, something spicy, anything other than jasmine. But for anyone looking for vacation vibes to spray on, "Gelsomini di Capri" comes highly recommended.
