Nice but something missing?
I'm drawn to this and yet it is one of the most disappointing perfumes I have tried in recent weeks.
The note pyramid looks right up my alley, complicated, floral, fruity, musky, honey, woody, spicey, earthy, and yet I get a very heavy feeling scent with virtually no smell.
Their website classifies this as a Floral and Aromatic top, a Chypre middle, and a Woody base.
Mostly I get an overdose of Ylang Ylang, developing a little sharp, and some sort of musky woodiness. So yes, but I get so little smell it is confusing.
I am drawn to this but I can't figure out why because I can smell so little and yet feel like I am saturated in perfume. Maybe it will work better in the summer (still pretty cold where I am), or maybe the EDT (no longer made) would have performed better or the parfum (no longer made). It doesn't smell overly artificial to me, doesn't smell cheap, isn't in-your-face obnoxious, doesn't smell like an aftershave. I would describe as underplayed but who knows how I come across to others when sporting this one (the only thing I have to go on is that my delivery guy didn't pull a face and my son when he came to see me didn't comment (which means he didn't notice it)).
Their Italian website shows they also sell bar soap, liquid soap, shower gel, reed diffusers and refills, spray diffusers, solid perfume, hand cream, body lotion, scented candles so if a person liked Fiori di Capri they could fill their whole house with the scent. I miss those days when you could always pick up body lotion, soap and talcum powder as well as the fragrance of your choice.
I think I will buy another 2ml sample to try later in the year then call it a day if it doesn't perform better in the heat. Also might get another two or three samples from the same house to see if one of those is a better fit.
Anyway, for now I have plonked on a quick spritz of Beautiful because I can smell that alright.
