Modern Coast

The Leather Trilogy collection by Ella K is dedicated to the African winds. Harmattan is the wind that blows from the Sahara, bringing dryness, dust, and coolness to West Africa, often causing tornadoes and darkening the sun with clouds of dust.

The main elements of the composition are geranium leaves, cedar needles, citrus notes, ambroxan, leather, suede, and musk.

It is a very "aromatic" composition that builds on the contrast between sharply fresh-sounding green and citrus notes and the dry, mineral effect of ambroxan. Musk and leather softened the composition after a short time and mimicked the blurred effect that occurs when dust blocks the sun's rays and the terrain turns dark.

I really liked this fragrance. Many people immediately recognize it as Dior Sauvage, although it is not so obvious with the three declared notes. The scent of Harmattan does not have the powdery-white fury that Sauvage possesses, although I wouldn't say there is much less ambroxan here. Nevertheless, Harmattan is differently balanced, and the soft leather accord gives Harmattan a different feel than Sauvage.

A modern and refined fragrance! You should definitely give it a try!

it is about the leather trilogy which was inspired by the three winds ghibli, khamsin, and harmattan. truly fantastic scents - each impressive in its own right, although I managed to filter out my favorite with some effort.

the harmattan - and here I base my preference a bit on the fruitiness that I perceive. nothing of the sort is listed in the notes… but who cares, aight!? :)

but let’s sail back a little - who are we even talking about here? some of you may know the scent melodie de l’altaii from the house - others may not be familiar with the brand at all.

I too only recently got a small sniffable overview and was completely blown away. such beautiful scents in stylish and minimalist elegant flacons that truly have it all.

but who is behind it? it is sonia constant - senior perfumer at givaudan, who fulfills a long-held dream with her own brand ella k. completely free from client specifications, she can let her professional creativity run wild here.

you don’t know sonia constant? ohhhhhh yes… tom ford ombre leather or noir ring a bell…? there you go! of course, the lady has created much more - but I believe these works speak very clearly for themselves, and from that, you will probably understand the quality we are dealing with here.

Greenish, leathery, woody with plenty of Ambrox freshness. It feels scratchy and unpleasant to me. Unfortunately, it also smells quite cheap.

If I didn't know better, I would have guessed this was just another average designer scent. Green freshness with leather and a typical Ambrox shower gel note.
