Chameleon
Or how you quietly but steadily crept your way into my heart.
You came one day as a selected sample addition to my bottle of "Hinoki". At first, I didn't know what to make of you. Forest? Sauna? Cedar? Pine? What do they all perceive? Neither! Something undefined floral on an undefined woody base. Also with a sillage that was almost too much for me personally. I thought you a relaxed woody scent, nothing special. And yet, I kept reaching for you more and more often instead of Hinoki or Kyoto. There was something about you that wouldn't let me go. When the sample was used up, I decided that you could move in as my birthday gift bottle. Since then, I wear you almost every day and discover every now and then new side of you.
Sure, at first glance you seem pretty linear, and the bit of pepper in the opening they could have saved, but depending on the weather, mood, mood sometimes bright incense flashes out or the cedar dominates. Predominant, however, is a very nice, if artificial, but that doesn't bother me, combination of iris and pine.
