A 'non-perfumey' clean floral
Simplistic yet likable, Pure by DKNY will leave you feeling feminine, clean and pretty.

Pure and 'white' is really what this fragrance conveys to me. It's a subtle blend of florals with only a slight touch of sweetness.

There is something very soothing about this scent, however it may be difficult finding an occasion to wear it. For me, personally, it's extremely casual, like something you'd wear if you chose to spend the day at home.

I can't pinpoint any particular notes in Pure by DKNY. They all seem to blend together nicely making an all-round, pleasant and clean floral blend.

The lasting strength is so-so. Not particularly long-lasting but not fleeting either. I'd recommend Pure by DKNY as being a good choice for those women that dislike anything too strong or too 'perfumey'. This could be that perfect, gentle and inoffensive floral that they may have been searching for.

How Pure is Pure?
How pure is DKNY PURE? Judging from the splitting headache by which I am currently plagued, I'm guessing not all that pure after all. The composition itself is very similar to my nose to Calvin Klein's new perfume, BEAUTY, except that the latter is better constructed and more floral, with a heavier jasmine note. DKNY PURE has something dirty-ish in it that reminded me initially of Bond no 9 MONTAUK, but it becomes much closer to BEAUTY in the drydown. The headache factor however excludes PURE from my further consideration. I did not apply very much--about half my sample vial--so I'd venture to guess that there's more poison than "Ugandan CARE vanilla" in a bottle of PURE.

Which brings me to an irresistible jibe at the complete and utter hoakiness of bragging about the inclusion of Ugandan vanilla in a perfume. This is not a bottle of vanilla extract. This is not even an oriental vanilla perfume! This is a solution containing maybe a couple of drops of vanilla (maybe less, given that the vanilla is barely detectable!). We are to believe that the magnanimous saints at DKNY are saving Ugandan lives through the launch of this perfume? Give me a break.

But wait, there's more. Suppose perchance that some perfumistas less astute than sherapop erroneously infer that the source of their PURE-induced headaches is the "special" CARE vanilla included there? Then, quite far from helping, DKNY will have harmed the women of Uganda.

-----------
I ended up with a bottle of this somehow and am glad that I gave it a second chance. The composition is not bad. But my critique of their lame campaign stands.

Bexhill On Sea - I'm 17 Again
When I was 17, I went on a holiday to England. A small town on the south coast, a half-hour walk along the promenade to Brighton. I was unhappily in love at the time, but it was still a lovely holiday. There was also a very nice boy there. I dyed my hair for the first time. Green and blue. We got drunk on canned Guinness and sneaked out at night through the back door of our host family's house. No matter how quiet we were, our host mother ALWAYS heard us and gave us a lecture, telling us to be quieter. However, the woman made a dreamy Apple Crunch. But otherwise, she was a dragon.

I have no idea why, but when I smelled Pure for the first time, I was 17 again, sitting on the beach in Bexhill On Sea. And it happens every time. The perfume wasn't available at that time, so it can't be that I smelled it there.
To me, it smells summery fresh and clean. Subtly floral and vanilla-sweet, but not cloyingly sweet. And, I can't help it, it also smells salty, like a day at the beach, slathered in sunscreen.

Still waters can also be good
A rather inconspicuous companion in this vast world of beautiful fragrances. But Pure DKNY deserves to be mentioned with praise.
I really like this deliciously quiet, rather subtle vanilla scent. You can truly wear it anytime and anywhere, and there are just days when a woman doesn’t want to stand out too much. Neither artificial nor overly sweet vanilla overwhelms you, but rather gentle floral notes envelop me, with vanilla excellently blended in. It’s not a cozy vanilla, but rather fresh and clear, yet with a definite tendency towards comfort.
Woody notes round it off very harmoniously.
As I said, it’s not a showstopper, but it does stand out positively from the many
vanilla waters that come in all variations.
I could well imagine this scent in an intense version; then I would like it even more, as it doesn’t quite last all day.

A Drop
A few days ago, you used Mom's perfume again, and some people in class got upset about it. They said you stink and that what you have on is way too strong.
You are annoyed by these comments because Mom's perfume smells a thousand times better to you than the deodorants from Impulse and Balea that the girls in your class use.
But maybe it would really be better if you looked for your own scent. So you read descriptions online and check out what some of your favorite bloggers have to say about "fragrance." You really like vanilla; that’s the note you want in a scent that should accompany you. But you don’t want a strong, wintry, dessert-like vanilla, nothing that smells "delicious" or even "mouth-watering," because you are shy and introverted. You don’t want to stand out with your perfume, and you definitely don’t want to hear such negative comments again like the day you wore your mother’s perfume.
In a blog, you read something about "A Drop of Vanilla by DKNY." That could be something for you. You head to Zeil and go into a large department store because there you can usually try fragrances without being bothered by a sales assistant. The first spray from the round glass bottle doesn’t excite you. Where is the vanilla? It smells very strong of perfume alcohol, sharp. But after two or three minutes, it gets better. The scent has something fresh about it, reminding you of a soap you once used in a hotel in New York.
But when does the vanilla come? Oh right, it’s just "a drop of vanilla," a small drop. Strangely, it doesn’t make the scent warmer; instead, it remains cool and abstract, without warmth, a bright white, a non-color.
You spray the scent on your wrists and into your scarf. Then you go back outside and walk down to the banks of the Main. It’s uncomfortable outside, a typical winter day without sun, the damp cold bites your face, and you wrap yourself deeper into your scarf. There you notice it again, this perfume from DKNY. You had already forgotten it, but now you smell it again.
Freshly washed laundry comes to mind, a room with white walls, a canvas that hasn’t been painted yet, just like the one in your room waiting for you to unpack the colors. Are you really so shy that you don’t want to show much of yourself? Does your personality reflect in this restrained hint?
You walk back into the city and look at yourself in one of the many mirrors there. You smell your scarf again, then your wrist.
No, that’s not you. You need color.
And now you know that you have much more courage than you actually thought.

Vanilla mist, intertwined with fresh lotus freesia and woven with sandalwood orchids.
It's beautifully balsamic-fresh.. :)

I’ve loved this scent for years - nothing extraordinary, but it smells clean, fluffy, well-groomed, creamy with vanilla and amber.

Gentle vanilla wrapped in fresh flowers and sandalwood. Pleasantly unobtrusive. For a repurchase someday, but too nondescript!

Beautiful fresh subtle scent with a hint of vanilla. Perfect for hot temperatures. And the price-performance ratio is just right here.

It mainly smells like sweet jasmine blossom, which surprisingly I like here, as it's subtle. Sweet & pleasant.
