Banal and cloying

I tested this tonight in Ulta. The adorable bottle with the little bees on it really caught my eye! I should have known…bees=honey. Honey is one of my kryptonite notes, and it is majorly present in this perfume. It’s basically fruity and honey-sweet.

I can detect the watery sweetness of the freesia, and all of these fruits are present and lift it up out of the flat-out honey sweetness. I detect no jasmine, no neroli, nothing else, except maybe a bit of the vanilla. It’s sweet! I don’t like it because I don’t like honey and this is tooth-achingly sweet and cloying in that teenager way.

Sillage is pretty good for the one squirt I gave my hand. Longevity is very good. I’ve scrubbed my hands twice and showered, and it’s still there. I’m not a fan of DKNY or Donna Karan scents in general, so this is one more to place in my “fail” list.

Anyway, as I said, the bottle is adorable, but I need more than cute packaging. I need something worthwhile inside. Same with people.

Pretty Good

I expected honey and was unfortunately disappointed. Not comparable to Pure Honey by Kim Kardashian.
I was misled by the little bees on the bottle and the beeswax in the pyramid.
Instead, it's a fresh, fruity, and not sticky sweet flower nectar, light and spring-like/early summer-like.
But the fragrance is called Nectar Love and not Honey Love, so that actually makes sense :)
On its own, it's a pleasant and not overpowering scent if you don't expect a honey bomb. I prefer it sweeter :)

Today I was out glasses shopping with my girlfriend.

She couldn't decide and ended up choosing three pairs.
But my wise father always advised me that when in doubt, it's best to go for both.
Why not even three?

I understand her, as she faithfully accompanies me on my fragrance purchases, which are also not characterized by restraint.

So we headed to the perfume store.
There, the honey-golden bottle immediately caught my eye - adorned with shiny little bees.
Oh!
I don't know if it's the sweet outfit that reminds me, but the honey shampoo with the hummingbird comes to mind, which had a similarly fruity - honey-like scent.

Delicate jasmine and lily of the valley join in - and the mirabelle complements the honey impression.
Warm vanilla and cool neroli are interesting counterpoints in the dry down.

I see the gloomy winter day through the famous rose-colored glasses - even though only my girlfriend has just acquired those from Ray Ban.

Moreover, the bottle is a real eye-catcher and fits perfectly with the friendly, playful scent.

Sweet Sweet Gwendoline

No, not THAT Gwendoline, the one so "charmingly" sung about by the doctors ;-) but a really very sweet young thing with golden curls and ballerinas instead of cables and certain bondage ambitions. Because that’s how "Nectar Love" smells to me. Innocent to harmless, young and nice. Not necessarily impressive, but not bad either.

At the start, I perceive honeydew melon and nectarine sweetened with a generous splash from the busy bee. After a while, mirabelle plums (which I never thought I could smell) actually appear and mix with vanilla, musk, and neroli into a creamy Virgin cocktail. But that’s about it for the scent development. I cannot detect jasmine and cedarwood no matter how hard I try. This fragrance lacks any depth.

A summery little sniffer that doesn’t harm a fly, friendly and sunny through and through. It vaguely reminds me of "Bohême" by Eau Jeune/Jade, which I particularly appreciated as a very young teenager. An unspectacular yet very pleasant and unobtrusive scent.

Even though I had to think of "Sweet sweet Gwendoline" because of the sweet sweetness, "Nectar Love" couldn’t captivate me.
