Amber collecting in Teutonic forests
The house of D.S. & Durga recently told me quite little and even now my knowledge of this house has not exactly grown exorbitantly. But that can still be, because what has grown very well is now my interest in the fragrance house and this is due to Amber Teutonic, because the fragrance is for me a kind of balsamic and in places fresh-citric egoist. I hardly dare to say it, but Egoiste is actually my favorite perfume and that without leather.
Now what does a Teuton smell like, one might ask. What it lives on at least, that's what the scent tells us not least of all, namely the trade with amber. So should it rather be about the scent of amber, which smells differently from this region? Is it more a shot of a typical scenery of that time? You don't know and today I don't want to tell you a fictional story, but only describe the scent in detail, which in my eyes is outstanding and I want to appreciate that.
First it will be very tangy and fresh, which will probably be the green mandarin. Our alpine cedar seems to have donated some sweetish resin, respectively the one from Opoponax - more about this later - because for a moment Amber Teutonic wavers in this direction, but fortunately it will catch again immediately. Then the cedar smells as royal and sublime as we know it from her. Wonderful, I love it! Now we have cardamom which has been added. If I were to say that the olfactory perception is intense, I would have to lie. What he does with the cedar, however, is this: the cedar gets a dirty, beguiling note, and at the same time it gets a little warmer, as if the sticky resin is flowing down irregularly in small chunks. Subliminally, we also have the tangerine, which trickles its still bitter juice onto the resin.
Now it will be more balmy. Larch and fir cones are added. The smell becomes woody. Now you have to imagine that, what does a fir cone smell like? Rather weakly woody, sometimes earthy in undertone, so my memory. Now the pine cone in Amber Teutonic gives off more of a fine aura, reminds us that we are exploring the forest, reminds us to find the amber. The larch itself is used in medicine here and there as a soothing element, and so here too a soothing woody tone emanates from the larch. It is not a cold winter in the forest. The sun is shining, it is mild, the birds are chirping, it is simply a beautiful day. An idyll.
In the end, we arrive at what was already playing a permanent role in the fragrance, but which I only really learned to assign in this perfume: Opoponax. This resin smells balsamic and woody, slightly sweetish but very intense. I have the feeling that it reminds me of this sandalwood-tobacco-vanilla blend at Egoiste, but with a woody touch. This scent woven into A more intense net, gave the cedar new facets and woven the net more tightly around the larch and fir cones. We were drawn to it like sirens, and it also highlighted what I consider to be the few differences to Egoiste: a tiny trace of earthiness that clings to the green.
Amber Teutonic is wonderful and I thank AdAstra very much for the rehearsal, where I first adorned myself and decided to go for other bottlings. He nevertheless enclosed a sample of this fragrance. I got to know a wonderful scent and my bank account got to know another debit. Joy on one side, suffering on the other. But at least now I will be able to sleep soundly thanks to the balsamic note.
