My favorite green
This smells exactly like when I'm grinding coriander seeds and then I toast them on a hot pan. Green, aromatic, savory.

The first couple of hours, it's this coriander scent, with a fresh background. Imagine during the winter, you're grinding coriander seeds right next to the open window and there's a cold wind blowing...

Then in the dry down, it transitions to something musky and powdery. Like an elevated, classy baby powder. Ahhh I love this scent so much! It is my most favorite green scent I have ever owned so far!

It has rather strong sillage, and pretty good longevity (about 2+ hours before becoming moderate sillage, and actually lasts for days on clothes).

I would recommend this if you love true green fragrances and you want to smell like a plant and/or a spice :)

Boring musky freshie
With Coriander by D.S. and Durga, you get a bit of fresh spices, herbs, and citrus in the opening, then it's all swallowed up by a huge white musk accord that makes this fragrance way too bottom-heavy and synthetic. Run-of-the-mill modern soapy scent that doesn't really go anywhere or do anything. Doesn't really smell like coriander either.

nautical spice
Cool, peppery marine. It even nips the nose like a strong sea breeze. Coridander doesn’t smell like IRL coriander, but it’s a dead ringer for the Diptyque Coriandre candle. If that makes sense. I’m fortunate to have the “cilantro yummy” gene, but I do buy the soapiness to this. Not that it’s unwelcome; the scent has a very wholesome, clinically-clean, spick-n'-span feel about it. If Le Labo’s Coriandre 39 is a rustic emerald green, then DS&D’s Coriander is a pure, glaucous sage. It’s the kind of scent I’d make my signature if I owned a sailboat.

Mental Snapshot: A crisp, bright morning in the Maritimes. Bracingly cold, but all the windows are latched wide open. A kitchen of whitewashed shiplap, scrubbed infirmary-level clean. Ivory cable-knit jumpers, tin mugs of fisherman’s soup, a chef’s pantry stocked with metal canisters of spice and wax sachets of dried herbs. Robert Egger’s The Lighthouse meets Barefoot Contessa.

tl;dr: ahoy herbal ️

Jag and Coke
Somehow, something about this perfume makes it smell like cola to me. I did a little research on this and it turns out that the original formula for Coca Cola did in fact contain coriander oil, which reacts with chemicals in lime oils to give it that signature cola smell/taste.
The scent of this perfume is like if you were asked to make a rum and coke but the person really, really wanted you to sub the rum for Jäegermeister. It’s cola with a really interesting herbal backing to it. It’s arguably more of a realistic cola scent than whatever Killian has going on.

California summer greens and scrub brush
Coriander captures the experience of late summer in Mediterranean zone California. Think of the hard perennial green of scrub brush and dry grasse in a sandy microclimate. Spices and geranium bring hot dry warmth of vegetation drying under sun. The herbs not savory as Debaser, but bracing, especially in the opening. Clary sage and flower notes enliven the aridness of ISO-E-Super. (The clove is not dominant unlike many ‘oriental’ scents.) Marketed as a men’s cologne, this is a unisex fragrance and will appeal to women who appreciate a scratchy green.

Sillage is intimate, and the longevity is better than much of this house’s offerings.

A freshie with a twist, in contrast with my beloved tea and fig scents such as Nishane Wūlóng Chá.

If you like green notes, give it a try. Next to my favorite green of all, galbanum or a well played bergamot, this is my new favorite green.

One of the best freshies that there is! It stays close to the skin, but you can enjoy it quite long. Fresh, clean, different!

Beautiful fresh spicy opening that is tempered by berry sweetness. Mellows out in dry down and leans towards floral soapiness

Spent 2 years testing green herby freshies—this took 1st place! Realistic coriander, lively top notes, cloves + salty element give it depth.

A lowkey genius scent, perfectly balanced. The real joy of it is how it sticks to clothes and becomes the fresh skin scent of your dreams.

I don't get green, actually, but this starts out spicy and ends fresh and soapy. Interesting, to be sure.

So beautiful and unique. There’s an almost root beer quality to it? Like having a frosty glass after you’ve been working in the garden.

This scent definitely gives what it says it does, it starts strong but dries mild. It becomes one with your skin in a very kind and natural way.

Fine but light. Not much that I could smell

Coriander seeds (very very green!) that slowly transforms to musky, powdery dry down. Fresh, cold, yet soft and spicy.

"You shouldn't smell herbally against your neighbor's nose."
