Addictive and nutty

Pistachio is a unique and very gorgeous fragrance. I had been expecting gelato but this is not milky at all. The opening is strong - green notes, nutty and woodsy. It is a rather unidimensional scent. This comes as no surprise as the top, middle and base notes are all pistachio x 3.

I’m especially impressed by the longevity. I liberally sprayed myself before bedtime and it is still going strong, albeit a skin scent, 12 hours later. The dry down is addictive. I couldn’t stop sniffing my arm throughout the evening. As the scent progresses, it mellows quite a bit. Hints of pistachio waft through the air. I even detect hints of coffee.

I think Pistachio would pair well with many other perfumes. For example, pistachio and chocolate , or with any boozy scent. I’m eager to layer with my Burning Barbershop or Handbook for the Recently Deceased to get smoky roasted nuts. I think Bowmakers would also provide a strong woody backbone. I am delighted to have a bottle. I think it would work best in the colder months. It is a fabulous gourmand.

A plush onesie full of soft pudding

Full transparency, I don’t know what a pistachio smells like-- my only experience with them is as savory salt-barnacle-crusted nibbles. This fragrance is not that. It’s soft, cardamom-blossomed, marzipan-petaled; a floral meringue, velvety heliotrope musk of a scent, sprinkled with a pinch of vanilla cake mix. Imagine all of that in a fluffy pudding. Now convert that pudding to a plush velour onesie. Ok yes, there it is. An adult onesie full of pudding. Subtly sweet, close to the skin, not really all that potent, and yet somehow...aggressively cozy?

Singular and engaging

Pistachio! A complex and layered nut given full attention to detail. It's a gourmand without being pastry sweet or drippy honey. Obviously nutty, and subtly green, dry without being powdery. This really is a fun exploration of something that's usually used for one note. Will probably be great for layering because this isn't overbearing in the slightest.

Pistachios and powdery almonds

I have one fragrance in my collection which has pistachio and almonds in it, so I didn't really have any expectations going in with this one.

The beginning was a blast of strong, fresh and spicy cardamom with a pretty dank green tinge. Fortunately, it calmed down semi-immediately and the pistachio note finally rose up. I got a nutty, dry note of realistic pistachio. I also started getting a powdery almond, that was close to play-doh but thankfully stayed on the right side of the track. It begins to morph into a roasted, nutty, but also soapy kind of scent, like a luxurious body butter. Patchouli adds an earthy and a bit dirty touch to the scent with some warmth while vanilla cream adds that sweet, sensual touch.

It's very nice for a pistachio fragrance, but the functional aspect of the nutty body butter is not my forte, even more so when I know there are better nutty body butters and cream out there (think of "Cheirosa '62 | Sol de Janeiro" body cream. i'm also not a fan of almonds in fragrance and in this one I find it often overpowers the pistachio. Won't be making it into my collection, but it is a lovely fragrance nonetheless!

Not what I was expecting

They were not joking when they said this was dank. It is certainly dank with a capital D. If you are thinking this is going to be a gourmand scent, it is decidedly not. First spray hit me with a little bit of pistachio but mostly wet straw. After I let it dry down the wet straw lost some of the intensity but was still very present. I started to get a bit of cardamom spiciness and warmth as it continued its journey. This is great if you want something with a bit of funk, it also works well to tone down the sweetness in other fragrances when layered (for example with Skyler Vanilla Sky). I won't repurchase after this bottle is done but I'm cool with it being on my shelf for when the mood strikes.
