Smooth white floral

I must say, the opening sensation of fresh florals is impressive. The composition feels all natural and made of top quality materials. Listed as unisex, but may be a bit challenging for the self-conscious males.

Fleur de Lalita is full of white florals, jasmin in particular, supported with green and woody notes. They give a smooth, fresh sensation, not sweet. Joyful like seeing flowers bloom and hearing birds chirp on the first day of spring. Close to skin the elements can be clearly picked out: Galbanum, lily, a truly lovely jasmin, a smooth sandal.

I'm a big fan of the white floral genre and I'm really impressed with overall quality of the Dusita perfumes I have tried so far. Same goes for Fleur de Lalita and its vintage white floral profile. The only downside is that, from a distance, it appears a bit common and kind of safe. The trail it leaves could be confused with any designer perfume of reasonable quality. So in the end, this Dusita basically ticks all the boxes, except maybe one: uniqueness.

A Tour de Force of Feminity Expressed Through White Florals

Fleur de Lalita is an absolutely stunning and joyful white floral, featuring lively jasmine and lily with a realistic botanical feel, with a fresh and dewy naturalness to it, like the scent the flowers would give off while being watered. The galbanum is very present and is quite potent initially, giving the initial opening an almost chypre like feel, but Lalita quickly settles into more of a vibrant white floral but with a crispness rarely found without being headache inducing. I’m very sensitive to certain pungent white flowers, lily being at the top of the list, but somehow this is done in a way that is actually soothing to my senses instead of the usual piercing between my eyes that I normally get from similar notes. On paper, this sounds like a “no way” for me with all the jasmine, lily and magnolia, but somehow these notes magically harmonize and create a beautiful and realistic botanical white floral unlike most I have tried. Lalita settles into a slightly sweeter version after a couple of hours when gentle vanilla, clean musk and rose surface. Fleur de Lalita is such a celebration of femininity, joy and optimism without going too “pink” or overly sweet. Fleur de Lalita is stunning and is proof we should never rule out any notes. Sometimes we just haven’t found the right combo or artistic touch to make it work for us. 5/5 for me.

Parfums Dusita Fleur De Lalita

I don't react so quickly to floral fragrances so quickly as I have reacted to Parfums Dusita Fleur De Lalita. One sniff and the rest is history. I obtained a nice big sample from Pissara and immediately it was love at first sniff. I used up my sample and wasn't able to review the fragrance. I've given up on Dusita perfumes. They are intense and dated in my eyes. My last hope was this fragrance. At the first spray I got excited. Will it? But soon the smell changes to the potpourri that my great-aunt used to have on the table. A mix of all flowers. I'm a bit more enthusiastic about the drydowb. The flowers become softer and cry out for attention a little less. Instead, the musk gets louder. Nice, but certainly not enough to buy a bottle for it.

Crunchy green milk

There is something about this perfume that excites me, and I think that it’s because it manages the same perfect balance of crisp, crunchy green “leafy” notes and warm, milky-sweet tropical florals. I am not a big fan of galbanum, but here in Fleur de Lalita, the galbanum sidesteps the lime leaf and cut green pepper freshness of the resin and goes instead for that cigarette smoke-inflected, murky, animalic dankness that we can glimpse lurking in the depths of L’Heure Exquise and maybe even No. 19 EDP (Chanel). The animalic aspects of galbanum are cleverly emphasized with natural ambergris, which gives the body of the scent a salty, musky funk that hangs around for a good while (the last time I saw galbanum and ambergris work together so well was in Ella by Arquiste).

None of which might be apparent when you first spray this on, of course, because Fleur de Lalita is a ladylike endeavor and will only reveal her undergarments when you insist on looking. The first part of the scent, therefore, really focuses on the milky, banana-leaf sweetness of tropical ylang, jasmine, and lily; if you loved the sultry, cumin-spiked crème brulée of Amaranthine, like I do, then the opening hour or so will have your eyes rolling back in your head.

But the sharp, wet greenness of muguet reins in the supine creaminess of the florals to the perfect degree, ensuring that the scent never tips too far one way or another into sharpness or dessert. It’s like a rice pudding stirred with a snapped-off piece of agave, cold from the fridge and beginning to drip droplets of clear nectar.

Fleur de Lalita is the perfect balance of the green and crunchy with the sweet and milky, all underscored with the most beautifully musky, animalic galbanum-sandalwood seen this side of L’Heure Exquise – back when the Annick Goutal still had real Mysore sandalwood in it. I’d hesitate to try and define this, because it is a very complex fragrance and straddles (I think) several different categories, but perhaps this might work: a tropical milky floral a là Songes, Sira des Indes, or Amaranthine crossed with a woody, animalic galbanum fragrance a là L’Heure Exquise or even Bandit. That might not seem like it would smell all that great, but it truly does.
