Marquetry
Notes: Bergamot, Lavender, Peach, Galbanum, Tonka Bean, Rose, Amber, Vanilla, Labdanum and Musk

Starts of very clean with prominent Lavender note, as it develops Amber and Vanilla come into play. In the drydown Tonka Bean is more noticeable to my nose. Overall a good fragrance for the summer.

Lavender - the Janus-faced
What a beautiful interplay of the individual fragrance notes develops after spraying "Marquetry" on my skin.
How gently caressing the lavender is, without any of its usual herbaceousness.
Balsamic and resinous-smoky, it is coated in peach's ripe sweetness before golden-brown tobacco leaves crackle and graceful rose beauties greet me with their fragrance.
"Marquetry" is soft and vanilla-warm, despite lavender and a rich assortment of resins. Peru balsam probably works all its magic.
Everything has been skillfully combined to create a beautiful fragrance that is reminiscent of a precious intarsia work.

But as beautifully as lavender shows itself here, it's that Janus-headed one again that makes me want to wash off "Marquetry" quite soon.
This hermaphroditism inherent in lavender can calm and invigorate; for me, it not only invigorates, it makes me restless and sometimes even a little irritable.
I had to learn this many years ago when tea made from lavender flowers with honey was recommended to me as a sleep aid: How restlessly I wandered around until someone enlightened me about this double, so contradictory effectiveness of lavender.
It doesn't have to be that way. My current drowsiness is intentional and so, unfortunately, I have to do without the warm embraces of "Marquetry".
What a pity!
But fans of lavender could discover a fragrance here that wanders off the beaten track and whisks you away to a charming, rich blue under a wide-open sky.
