Hard Shell Soft Core
Unfortunately, I can't keep my statement short enough...
I had to gradually get used to the scent. I believe I can slowly perceive the nuances as follows.
Right after spraying, I recognize a subtle rose. I notice a delicate sharpness from the ginger and something fruity sweet.
When sprayed sparingly, the fragrance presents itself softer and more harmonious; otherwise, I find the spices to be smokier and slightly biting. In any case, it becomes milder and more balsamic over time.
Voyage à Fès comes in a beautiful 15ml bottle with an exceptionally fine misting spray head.

How It Could Have Been
A few years ago, I traveled to Morocco. Fes, Agadir, Marrakech, the Atlas Mountains. A lot of experiences, and it quickly became clear to me that this would be my last trip there.
Many of the impressions I took with me were not positive. Nowhere were my companion and I harassed so aggressively and disrespectfully as there, even though we neither dressed provocatively nor behaved in a way that fit the negative tourist stereotype.
From a moving car, we were shouted at with Nazi slogans.
My companion was repeatedly asked to trade me for camels.
I can hardly imagine how a Moroccan here would react if locals offered him a few cows in exchange for his wife.
And constantly, everywhere, the persistent demand for bakshish as soon as one moved freely outside the protected hotel complexes.
After our return, I mentally filed Morocco away.

Some time ago, I discovered the Voyage à series by Florascent in a natural goods store, and the pretty little bottles immediately attracted me.
Cannes and Capri didn't suit my taste so much, but the more oriental-scented variants Granada and Fes were quite appealing, so it is a nice coincidence that the fragrance named after a Moroccan city ultimately found its way into my collection.

Upon application, I find myself directly in an oriental souk. A multitude of small bags filled with various ground, crushed, or whole spices is spread out before the visitor, filling the air with their scent.
Colorfully dressed women sing out their wares in a melodic chant and invite you to taste with a smile.

Here, the clove has a significant say and clearly dominates the initial phase.
Every now and then, it is interrupted by the geranium, which comes across as somewhat citrusy.
Then the spirit of the winds transports me to a barren, steppe-like landscape, and I smell dry, dusty hay.

Men dressed in white have gathered their camels, sitting in a circle, sharing the day's experiences, and passing around the water pipe.
The desert wind drives dried plant clumps ahead of it, and the guttural sounds of the camels echo across the dunes.

After these quite different phases, the fragrance settles into a gently spicy-oriental level.
I keep catching a hint of rose, but the flowers clearly play a subordinate, merely balancing role here.
In the end, my olfactory journey gently concludes with a mild balsamic scent.

With the setting sun, I lie on soft cushions under a light fabric roof, drinking lukewarm tea from finely engraved cups, breathing in the scent of incense resins, and listening to the sounds of the desert.
I would have loved to harmonize my memories of Morocco with this beautiful fragrance.

A peaceful silence still hangs over the city of 1001 Nights with its rose gardens, spice markets, and ancient buildings.

Aromatic scent of cloves, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Slightly sweet, camphor-like, with a hint of ginger spiciness. East meets West.

A suitcase full of colorful vignettes,
the soap at the mosaic washbasin in the hotel,
scents of the souks wafting by.
Nostalgically beautiful like a film.

A pretty dense weave of cinnamon-baked apple attack that, despite all the sweetness, retains a serious core. Maybe something for the Advent season?

Mmmm, I immediately recognized the clove. I've loved this note so much since Shanghai Lily :D
Plus ginger, spicy rose. So delightful!
