A rascal who thinks ill of it...
The friendly people of China are known, among other things, for copying everything that is good and expensive in the West. Thus, the CE mark found on some products has nothing to do with the similarly named European certification for product safety, but simply means "China Export".
This came to mind involuntarily while testing the EdT from China Rose, as it is the perfect copy of a rose scent without actually containing any rose, at least if one is to believe the pyramid.
Completely biased by the designation, the nose does indeed signal after spraying: "Yes, this is a rose scent".
However, the rose is not full and dark, but rather light and zesty-spicy. It leans a bit towards Goutal's Rose Splendide, but really only a little.
With the help of the pyramid and after comparing with the respective solo scents, I can actually distinctly sniff out the floral hyacinth, the powdery-dry violet, and especially the clove. Everything else remains hidden in the mysterious interplay of the fragrance notes, which my admittedly extremely inadequately trained olfactory organ is capable of tricking so well.
China Rose is a very noble, floral scent. Not too opulent, with a fine spiciness and restrained sweetness. In my opinion, it is quite suitable for daily wear. Naturally, the EdT is lighter, but I would still rate the longevity here as good at 4-5 hours. The base is soft, balsamic, and close to the skin.
Final word: Dear perfumers of Floris, I did not mean to offend you with the China comparison. Here you have created another wonderful floral scent that has convinced me just as much as the enchanting Bouquet de la Reine. I wouldn't be surprised if China Rose were shamelessly copied, by whoever...
