A longlasting, natural-smelling green masculine
Fresh and sharp, Oud Vert leaves us in no doubt as to the gender of its intended audience – no ‘wimmen’ allowed here, bud! The verdant sourness of bergamot leads the charge, given an almost animalic underbelly by way of freshly-peeled ginger root. The ginger means the opening runs perilously close to functional product territory but manages (just in time) to sidestep the reference by quickly burying the ginger in the minty wetness of geranium leaf.
The drydown, despite the numerous exotic spices listed, stays close to the aromatic citrus character set in motion by the opening. Overall, this is a bright, muscular citrus fragrance, with only a brief nod at the woodiness of oud or vetiver in the base and even then in the most oblique manner possible.
Those looking for a strong ‘oudy’ element may look elsewhere. But Oud Vert may prove to be the answer to that eternal question: where can I find a long-lasting citrus masculine for summer that doesn’t smell chemical and that doesn’t disappear into the ether within ten minutes? Of course, Oud Vert is not the answer if there is a budget cap. But if it is an open-ended query and your wallet is endlessly thick, there is no reason why this should not be choice number one or two on your list.
