Colonia Claudia Bora Partypinensium
With its new collection, the very modern and anything but old-fashioned creations have significantly refreshed the reputation of our fragrance gem from Cologne lately. Not that the house necessarily needed it, especially when considering prominent fans and imitators like Tom Ford - but a little update and a new generation of customers certainly doesn't hurt. And "Sunny Seaside of Zanzibar" really goes all out to ensure we "youngsters" are not disappointed - and it succeeds on such a mega-hot summer day!

"Sunny Zanzibar" (as I will sweetly and affectionately shorten it) cruises on the vanilla-Caribbean dream yacht in the current of Guerlain's "Terracotta" and other coconut-vanilla sunshine scents. However, it is significantly lighter and more transparent. But of course also more affordable and easier to access. Golden brown-tanned. Slightly salty skin. Turquoise water and palm trees swaying in the wind. Rihanna bottled. Whether Sylt or Southeast Africa hardly matters. It sands and relaxes a lot. Fluffy, puffy, slightly nutty. Frangipani fruits. Bright flowers in delicate and unobtrusive tones. Cologne tradition meets Caribbean daydreams. A fragrance that invites you to dream and book vacations. A dislike for coconut should not be present. Sunscreen-like and inviting. It obscures the unpleasant and sweaty sides of the summer medal. Soleil Schälsick.

Bottle: very well and high-quality made
Sillage: you really have to breakdance on the spray head to overdo it
Longevity: a slight weak point - 3 to 4 hours in the height of summer

Conclusion: a very delicate South Sea scent between the Cathedral and the dunes, between the Rhine and Riverside, between Kölsch and Caribbean. Saltwater meets sweet vanilla - something one would never have expected from 4711 a few years ago…

Hello Summer!
Summer, sun, sea, and sunscreen all combined in this wonderful fragrance!
This was actually the very first “blind purchase” of a fragrance I ever made, and I still can't believe I hit the jackpot with it. And that’s despite being extremely picky about scents...
So it’s really a miracle!
I discovered the fragrance online at a great price and then immediately checked what you lovely noses had written on Parfumo :)
A big thank you again to all the commentators, because inspired by your opinions, I dared to make the purchase.
I find it quite difficult to describe the scent notes. I don’t even know if I can really pick out any of the notes listed above. It reminds me a bit of the Tahitian Monoi Tiaré oil from Yves Rocher, which I also really like. However, that oil has a stronger scent.
One thing is clear, when you spray the fragrance on, you instantly feel the summer vibe. The packaging states “Exotic, sunny, warm - an interpretation of a sunny beach day in paradise” and that pretty much hits the nail on the head. It reminds me of sunscreen, that typical scent that brings back vacation memories; occasionally it even somehow reminds me of fresh laundry. For some reason, because I actually don’t like those “fresh laundry scents” on my skin. Up close, it smells slightly synthetic, but that doesn’t bother me.
I sprayed it in my hair for the very first time, and I was enveloped in a little cloud of pure vacation feeling! Very nice :))

It’s sweet, slightly creamy, “sunscreen-like” without ever being too sweet or too overpowering.
Next summer, this will definitely be my summer signature scent! I think, however, that I will also wear it occasionally now to bring a bit of sunshine into the gray winter months.
The longevity is good, and the price is, of course, unbeatable! Bring summer home too!

Lonely Journey
I received a sample from Pieper, whose cover was handwritten.
Sunny seasick.
Sunny seasickness?

While I am still wondering, a crossing from Ostend to Dover comes to mind.

It was April, stormy - and the ship was rolling heavily.
My Anne and I staggered into the large dining room, but it was eerily empty.
However, we were warmly welcomed by four chefs dressed in white.
They offered us delicious dishes, but we wanted fries with mayo and cola.
While eating, we held our plates tightly; fortunately, the furniture was bolted down.
It was a strange feeling to sit so alone in this large hall.
Somehow ghostly - but also somewhat exclusive.

But then my bladder called - the cola had arrived.
We swayed to the restrooms - but they were overcrowded with passengers.
From one deck to another - the same scene everywhere.
Finally, in my desperation, I called out: I just need to pee!
A pale lady left her stall and briefly granted me access.
I was grateful to her.

Anne and I then sought out the outer deck in the sailor's corridor, watching the massive waves and the horizon that moved up and down.

This memory makes me smile - and by now, I have also deciphered that it is about sunny seaside instead of sunny seasick.

Sunny is the scent for sure - conveyed by the coconut and the watermelon - but I don't perceive any proximity to the sea with this sweet fragrance.
I would have expected something more aquatic.
But vanilla and woodiness give Seaside a more terrestrial density.
Vetiver grounds it further.

A nice friendly scent - not intrusive but also not a must-have.
But quite suitable for a shore leave in everyday life.

Cologne Meets Island Paradise
At the headquarters of 4711 in Glockengasse in Cologne, it's always worth exploring new creations from time to time. So, I took a closer look there again last week. The brand releases Kölnisch Wasser under the Intense series, which has significantly longer longevity and sillage than the classics of the house, which needed constant reapplication.
Sunny Seaside of Zanzibar lives up to its name. Coconut, watermelon, anise, and a somewhat exaggerated sweetness from frangipani and vanilla evoke cocktails served on the white beaches of the islands off Tanzania under palm trees. Plenty of sun, palm trees, sunscreen, and lightness. However, there is no scent of the waters of the Indian Ocean.
Although I wouldn't mind a good cocktail at a beach bar. My choice would not be the creamy, sweet drinks made with coconut liqueur, especially not in high temperatures.
And so it is with this fragrance. A strong creamy coconut tropical sweetness comes through, which is not very masculine and lacks any bitter accents.
There will be lovers of exactly these cocktails, there are sun worshippers who reach for sunscreen with a coconut scent, and these are the ones who should try Zanzibar.
And there are people like me who can't find much enjoyment in either.
The scent dissipates quite quickly, is not too intrusive, and retains the lightness of an Acqua Colonia. Nevertheless, it remains close to the skin for a long time.
I really like the bottles of the series. They remind me of crystal cuts with colorings depending on the mood of the modern Kölnisch Wasser.
The brand has succeeded in staying relevant with new creations at prices that are honest without appearing cheap.

Summer fragrance?
In search of a beautiful and new summer fragrance, I came across it.
So I bought it blind and tried it as soon as it arrived.
The packaging is well-made for the price and feels high-quality.
The bottle is a matter of taste, whether you find it pretty or not..
At first sniff, a thick, dense, and heavy cloud of floral notes greeted me.
Once the fragrance was on my skin for a few minutes, it became lighter and creamier. The coconut made a brief appearance, then disappeared again.
In the end, a soft side of vanilla with cedarwood remained, but this scent also completely vanished after 4-5 hours.
For the price, you can't go wrong.

For a cologne, it has quite a bit of substance. Watermelon, anise, frangipani + vanilla create a "beachy" vacation vibe. Good longevity.

If paradise smells like this (according to the ads!), God has run out of ideas. It's not bad, vanilla-coconut, but so cliché.

Intense coconut scent that doesn't smell cheap like party resorts, but rather very pleasantly caramel-like.
