OLD MONEY FRESH
I’ve always been drawn to the L’Humaniste DNA, both the original and Extreme. They just smell so good to me! L'Humaniste Extrême has that clean, masculine quality that reminds me of classic shaving soap and cologne. For ladies who occasionally enjoy smelling like a well-groomed, sophisticated gentleman, this is perfect.

This fragrance has a timeless, classic DNA. It opens with a slightly spicy, soapy note reminiscent of traditional shaving soap, layered with bright citrus from the original L'Humaniste, though here the citrus sits more quietly in the background. This version is sharper and more peppery, but also airy and crisp, like you just stepped out of the shower and splashed on a bit of cologne. Clean and impeccably groomed.

It truly smells like a high-end men’s boutique where they sell luxury shaving products, shower gels, soaps, and super expensive handmade brushes displayed on polished wooden shelves. The scents in those places always lean classic and old money, never loud or experimental. They are simple, refined, and incredibly well made. The soaps in those boutiques smell amazing, and L’Humaniste Extreme captures that exact scent and atmosphere. Quiet, refined, timeless. It's not revolutionary or groundbreaking, just a beautifully classic formula.

Homo sum; humani nihil a me alienum puto
A truly universal scent. It really gives off a feeling of a well-read person (so it suits my aspirations, or just gives me a little push when I want to self-percive, and be percived as such). Maybe it's just because of the name, but as i will desribe the scent down below think about how the contrasting smells are used in this perfume. Acidity and sweetness, freshness and warmness, there is a true combination of opposites happening. It has a sweet and citrusy opening, the lemon is very juicy and realistic, all in all the smell resambles a fresh cup of lemonade. Quince gives the fruity side of the fragrance a nice depth, though it is more like a quince syrope then a fresh fruit. Later the spices become more prevalent, and the profile becomes more oriental. The lemon is still there, but its freshness is contrasted with the warmness of the nutmeg and tonka bean.
It lasts on me for around 7-8 hours. Everything has it's place here, nothing is chaotic, the different parts of the perfume are in a dialog with each other, but they don't lose their character. Maybe this is how this scent can truly be fitting for a humanist, not a centrist who avoids the extreme parts of life, but for one who can fit them all into a beatiful harmony.

PS. I never had the original version of this fragrance, so i can't compare them with each other.

A sophisticated fougere
This new creation takes the original to a deeper and much more interesting level to my nose.

This starts off pretty fresh, green, some bergamot and perhaps some anise, classic stuff.

In the dry down L’Humaniste Extreme goes warmer and here the magic begins. It’s a fusion between a classic scent and its own dna which I simply adore. Lots of spices, tonka, patchouli and slightly minty.

Frapin also managed to extend the longevity substantially on this one compared to the original.

Recommended stuff, their best release so far.

Similar to L'Humaniste. Thicker, a little darker, a little sweeter. Slightly improved longevity and sillage. Very nice overall.

Sparkling effervescent opening, later known humanist DNA. Overall, less sour and a little more soapy - I like it

I was hoping this would basically be a stronger version of the original. Unfortunately, my nose doesn't even detect the original DNA. Pass.

It has a clean, masculine quality that recalls classic shaving soap & cologne, like stepping into a boutique filled with luxury soaps.

Sophisticated but boring fougere. Nice for office, irritates no one. Lack of original sparkle though. Bonus for longetivity.

A fine men's fragrance. I especially like the fresh-citrusy opening. It then turns into a green-herb shaving water with a hint of cardamom.

The magnificent top note is a solid 10 - you can't get better, fresher, or more natural with lemon, it's just perfect...

Nice upgrade, but not as unique as hoped. Pepper, cardamom, and quince are very present; otherwise, it's close to the original.

The name was enticing. What does a radical humanist smell like? Citrusy fresh with a hint of spice. I love it for my revolutionary heart.
