Lovely Scent

I’ve been wearing IF for a few days now, and let me just say, this one is criminally slept on. I originally picked it up because everyone kept saying it smelled like Gris Charnel by BDK. I love Gris, so I figured, why not? But after living with it a little... nah, IF is doing its own thing. And honestly, it’s better that way.

It’s sweet, musky, light, and woody, and really smooth, really easy on the nose. It reminds me more of a modern, grown-up Joop! Homme than anything else. Like if Joop! went back to school, got a degree. Same sweetness in the DNA, but cleaned up, matured, and a lot more wearable today. It lasts about 5–6 hours. You do get noseblind pretty quickly, but it’s still working in the background. I got a compliment on day 2 of wearing it, so I know it’s doing its job.

If I had one complaint, it’s that I wish it projected a little stronger. But honestly? I'd still buy it again without even thinking about it. It’s familiar but fresh, easy but grown.

Like a craft store at Christmas time

This scent is ultimately too heavy on the sandalwood and pine for me. The top notes were pretty intense, but once they faded I perceived a warm sweet spicy creaminess in the background. Soon it was completely drowned out by the sandalwood. Masculine, not unpleasant, but unfortunately not very complex.

Dark Jazzy Fig

This is what I was hoping Gris Charnel would smell like. If by RK is the most delicious, milky fig sprinkled with a bit of ginger, bergamot, cinnamon and tonka. Here the sweetness is subtle, it doesn't tire you, there are no masculine edges. The sandalwood is crispy, the guaiac wood a bit smoky, creating a rainy evening atmosphere in a small Washington state provincial town, with some sexy, dark jazz playing in the background, a scenery that would belong perfectly in any of David Lynch's darkest dreams. This is the mysterious fig I was hopelessly searching for in Gris Charnel. I wear it with a big cup of coffee and a slice of cherry pie. Twin Peaks fans will understand.

Aici dulceața este subtilă, nu te obosește, nu are o latură masculină. Lemnul de santal un pic crocant, guaiacul un pic afumat crează o atmosferă de seară ploioasă de Seattle, Washington, cu muzică jazz pe fundal, un peisaj demn de cele mai întunecate vise ale regizorului David Lynch. Acesta este smochinul misterios pe care l-am căutat în zadar în Gris Charnel. Îl voi purta cu o cană mare de cafea și o felie de plăcintă cu cireșe. Fanii Twin Peaks vor înțelege.

If you want to try Niche

I noticed that there is no review for this perfume yet, even though it is a very good fragrance. The perfume has peppery and woody accords. In my opinion, it can be compared to Gris Charnel by bdk. However, due to the peppery and woody accords, this perfume is a more masculine version of Gris Charnel. Thus, it is especially suitable for those men who find Gris Charnel too feminine.
I discovered this perfume for the first time last summer. While searching for a new fragrance, I sought advice on niche scents for the first time at Stephansplatz in Vienna. I mentioned that I like peppery notes in perfumes and cited YSL La Nuit de L’Homme Le Parfum as an example. Among other things, I noted that I prefer woody accords in fragrances. After a brief consideration, the sales associate suggested If by Frapin. The perfume can definitely be worn in summer, but it is best suited for temperatures between 5-25 degrees, as it develops differently at higher temperatures and has a shorter longevity.
This perfume is very good for beginners in niche fragrances.
