Delightful rose/leather, with hints of apple, oud, and sugar

The latest release from Gallagher Fragrances is Rosé Noir, an aptly-named shift from the earlier Rosé All Dae to the darker side, a sweetish mix of rose, apple, and sugar, still, but with black leather and oud as the main other ingredients, and the effect is really pleasant, a sort of dry-leather-meets-fruity-rose. I like the balance of dry, floral, and sweet elements, probably a bit easier for some to enjoy, especially those after more traditionally masculine options, than RAD, but comparably versatile and perhaps even higher-performing, very impressive.

The wafts I get are general more leather-intensive than rose-intensive, anyway, comparable to RAD in the very blended experience that is provided by the mix of notes. It’s very enjoyable, particularly with the cooling weather in my part of the world.

Rosé Noir is priced at $115 in the new 50ml opaque bottle size, which I think will be a nice middle ground between the 30ml and longstanding 100ml sizes.

Old Familiar, in New Attire

With the first test spray, a very strong plum note immediately emerged, combined with rose and leather. Rosé Noir gives me the impression that its spiciness reminds me of wine and creates a slight boozy vibe. The patchouli with the oud adds depth to it. The rose never really fades away but rather plays a role in the chorus instead of being the main musician. At first, it strongly reminded me of Black Gemstone, but then of Mancera Aoud Exclusif. Overall, the fragrance is well done, but for me, it’s not a must-have, as there are much better alternatives like those from Mancera.

Tastes differ, but I would rather advise against Rosé Noir since the wheel hasn’t been reinvented and there are better fragrances in this league that offer better value for money.

Nevertheless, one should try it and not be swayed by other opinions.

When Perfume Has a Distinct Color

The name is perfectly chosen; with the first spray, the immediate association is "Black." The scent slowly develops into black leather and becomes softer over time, warmer and more pleasant after several hours, with a base that is quite unisex. For me, the leather clearly dominates. The longevity and sillage are really very strong.

The metallic note gives the scent an interesting twist, although it is not as strong as, for example, in "Rosé All Daé | Gallagher Fragrances."

I would describe it as a masculine fragrance that conveys strength and presence. Definitely worth a test for leather fans!
