Texture with your Peach

I have sampled and owned a variety of fruit-forward fragrances (say that 3x fast), and I haven’t really settled on whether I like peach or not. Tonkapeach opens juicy, sweet, and true-to-life with both champagne and tonka bean adding some welcome depth and effervescence. But to my nose, something happens in the drydown. It gets a bit “dirty,” which could be a good or a bad thing, depending on your taste. I think I may have expected more out of the neroli, iris, and rose water but got the patchouli instead. Good but not quite great. I found Tonkazure a little more intriguing.

I am a gourmand lover, so keep that in mind. I adore this though. It smells like a buttery peach pastry with a little bit of cinnamon in it that just came out of the oven. I'm aware that it doesn't have any cinnamon in it, but it sure smells like it does to my nose. I'm sure it's the effect given by the tonka, but whatever it is, it works. I sprayed it on a shirt (albeit heavily) 48 hours ago, and that shirt is in the laundry room. It still smells pretty strongly of this perfume. Very enjoyable. Pretty reasonable price. I like it.

Well-blended fresh peachy deal, quite nice

Sampling the latest release from the Pearlescent Collection (by Gallagher Fragrances), Tonkapeach, no doubt a follow-up the next-most-recent, the lovely and innovative Tonkazure (among my favorites of the line). Tonkapeach is fittingly very peach-forward, and in a lovely way, as peach is a note I find a bit challenging. But it largely has the tonka and peach combo down well—it’s fresh, juicy, sweet, and a touch powdery, resinous, and nutty, with added notes of champagne, puff pastry, patchouli, and musk. Overall it lands as a fresh, sweet, mostly-gourmand that’s quite pleasant and something that I like peach lovers especially will enjoy. It smells high-quality and carefully-considered, and it’s one I’ll likely revisit somewhat.

Like the current Pearlescent Collection, Tonkapeach is priced at $125 for 60ml in extrait concentration, so even higher concentration and lower cost-per-ml than the main Gallagher Fragrances collection, already a great deal. Currently, it’s sold via the house site only but should be available at Perfumology and other boutiques that carry the brand.
