Fresh, green, salty, slightly earthy--what's not to like?
The latest release from Gallagher Fragrances is O’Vert, and, as its name suggests, it’s certainly green, but also salty and citric, a little tart, a mix of lime, vetiver, sea salt, and musk, mainly, with some spices and resins as well. The result is a green, salty freshie with some quirks that are quite nice, and just in time for the warming weather in the northern hemisphere.
I find O’Vert a bit more agreeable and less boundary-pushing than the melon-intensive Amongst Waves; to be clear, both are nice, but O’Vert feels more in the vein of tart freshies from, say, Atelier Cologne, that simply work so well in a variety of situations—familiar and comfortable but still sort of niche, I’d say. The vetiver in O’Vert is fairly prominent, but in a blended, “fresh vetiver” way, not veering into the ashy territory of, say, Encre Noire or Hemingway.
O’Vert’s pricing is comparable to the rest of the line, at $165 for 100ml, $100 for 30ml, with samples available as well, and is sold only through the house website for now, though I figure it’ll be available via the other retailers (i.e. Perfumology).
