Comme c'est belle, mon chérie!
Well, this is a very pretty fragrance to say the least. While it's nothing groundbreaking or inventive compared to other fragrances from L'Art & La Matière, it is a gorgeous one, and a very formidable candidate for my quest to find the best rose fragrance. It strikes the perfect balance between fresh, fruity, sweet and floral, and never becomes excessive or jammy like some rose fragrances are known to do. It opens up with a blast of bright pink rose, almost like you're being drenched in a refreshing rosewater. As it settles down the rose becomes a bit powdery and dense, but very clean and composed overall. Fully into the dry down, the fruity notes come forward and create what feels like an almost pillowy pink cloud around the supple rose notes here. It's a very wonderful wearing fragrance that envelops you and makes you feel 'pretty' in a way. Also worth noting is that despite the very 'pink' and fruity feeling of this fragrance, it never feels overly feminine, and actually feels very unisex, so I recommend everyone give this a try regardless of preferences.

This one will rank relatively high in the L'Art & La Matière for me. It is yet another example of how, at times, fragrances need not be inventive or earth-shattering in concept to be excellent pieces of perfumery. This is one that I can see myself enjoying quite a bit, and another that might land itself in my 'full bottle worthy' category. Quite wonderful stuff, and definitely worth a shot for any of the fans of rose out there.

JAMMY ROSE IN A POWDER CLOUD
It opens like rose water, soft, airy, and slightly powdery with a gentle vintage feel. The rose is clearly the main note. This is truly a rose bomb, showcasing almost every facet of the flower: floral, fruity, jammy, and delicately powdery.

As it develops, it becomes sweeter and fruitier. The raspberry nuances begin to shine, blending with a sweet vanilla powder. At times it smells like Turkish delight candy, but it never fully turns gourmand. The violet and heliotrope keep everything firmly in the powdery, cosmetic realm, like a soft powder puff or a vintage makeup compact.

The drydown is truly sweet and almost jammy, with the fruity rose taking center stage while the powdery facets remain softly in the background.

It's a relatively simple composition, but the quality of the ingredients makes it work beautifully. A powdery, sweet rose-violet fragrance with a classic feel. If this is your thing, give it a try. It's a beautiful take on the genre.

More like Cherry Blossom
Yes, the rose centifolia is noticeable at first, for only about twenty minutes: powdery and fresh with a hint of violet. But it quickly transforms into a beautiful bouquet of cherry blossoms. This realistic impressionism, I think, is thanks to the almond (heliotrope), raspberry, and rose.

Definitely one of my favorites from my private collection.

The powderpuff in an old Hollywood dressing room
The open is strongly baby powder — I almost thought I’d mistaken the decant for Love’s Baby Soft. But it quickly settles into a more mature (albeit still powdery) rose-water scent, with a touch of candied violet. It smells like vintage makeup, but in the most pleasant way — think a luxurious powderpuff, not lipstick. Not overwhelmingly floral, and the silage stays pretty close to the skin except for a soft whiff of rose now and then.

The fruit takes a bit longer to come out, it’s just an unplaceable sweetness at first — not raspberry, certainly, perhaps closer to cherry from the almond? But a bit longer in the almond becomes more distinct, lending a creaminess and sweet marzipan note, and hints of raspberry begin to peek through.

I disagree that this is a unisex scent; it’s moreso than I’d expect from a powdery rose-forward perfume, and the right man could certainly pull it off, but my overall impression is the old-school romanticism of a Hollywood starlet’s dressing room in the golden age of film — the soft floral of her powderpuff, the marzipan candies left by her adoring fans, the rosewater she uses to remove her makeup…

Overall, a lovely, vintage-feminine perfume with nice staying power. Nothing particularly unique or interesting, but it does a wonderful job of what it tries to be.

The Vivid, Inky Romance of a Parisian Dream
The fragrance opens with a brilliant swirl of rose and cherry accents from the very first spray.

The key to this creation is its "intensity of color." The rose’s radiance is joined by a cherry note that is as sharp and vivid as freshly drawn ink. This well-defined cherry contour breathes a modern, powerful "rosy" vitality into the composition.

This crisp presence is closely embraced by the powdery textures of violet, unfolding into a sensual and gentle trail. This powdery impression feels almost like fine "rose pollen," making one sense the very heartbeat of a delicate, blooming flower. It feels as if this soft scent is watching over and tenderly protecting a cherished love, offering a profound sense of security.

Capturing the rose's most delicate facets while maintaining an impeccable Parisian-chic poise, it is crafted into an exquisitely delicate and romantic fragrance.

Smells like windows cleaner with cheap rose (Damask) notes. Not impressed, Guerlain can really do better. Very expensive for such a smell.

Unique Rose scent w/ creamy texture from Almond, fruity touch from Raspberry and subtle vintage vibe from Violet. Underrated, special.

Elegant rose softened by violet and almond—feminine, clean, and graceful though not groundbreaking.

Aggressive, childish baby powder with a little jammy rose background. Smells like an adorable baby's room but I'd never want to wear this.

A nice fruity, juicy rose. I actually don't find this very powdery.

One of the weaker Guerlains: The somewhat annoying new Guerlinade (almond + maltol) mixes with raspberry and rose: synthetic vibe.
