An absolute disaster...
I'm sorry, but I'm over fifty years old and I've been testing, buying, and using perfumes for more than 25 years, and this one just doesn't cut it...

I've only seen rave reviews about this perfume on YouTube, and I took the bait...

The opening is a mess. There are no crisp citrus notes or anything like that. It’s a jumble of molecules, with a “very synthetic feel.” There might be some citrus, but it’s all already heavily mixed with something stinky that reminds me a lot of ambroxan.

It’s not fresh at all, unlike, for example, the excellent opening of “Terre d’Hermès Eau Givrée” (just to give an example).

As it dries down, it doesn’t change much. It sweetens up a bit and a nutty note takes center stage. I'm not going to lie, at this point, it's nice, but that's about it.

Totally unisex, if not more feminine. Let’s see, a man smelling of almonds or hazelnuts... I’m not so sure about that. :)

I’m really sorry, but I just can’t stand Guerlain. Everything they’re doing these days seems like garbage to me. Starting with the acclaimed “Habit Rouge Parfum,” another sickly sweet bomb that’s even more feminine than this one...

And I say this with regret because the vintage version of Heritage is one of the greatest masterpieces of perfumery of all time, but what they’re selling now under that name is enough to make you cry.

A Masterclass in Contrast: Jelk’s Modern interpretation of the Ideal Man.
Delphine Jelk continues her winning streak with Cologne Forte. While many claim the incense is missing, it is the very first note to greet my nose—a sophisticated smokiness that sets the stage for what’s to come. The genius here lies in the "fire and ice" dynamic: a cooling, sharp grapefruit immediately cuts through that smoke, followed by the signature L’Homme Idéal almond note. The dry down is incredibly smooth and comforting, maintaining that fascinating push-and-pull between hot and cold accords throughout the wear. Guerlain remains the gold standard of French perfumery for a reason—there is truly nothing else like this on the market.

Longevity: 10/10 (Fills a house with just a few sprays).

Scent: 10/10.

L'Homme Ideal Cologne - for the modern world.
L'Homme Ideal Cologne started it all. It was released one year BEFORE Tygar which for some reason gets all the accolades for this type of smell. The line continued with Platine Prive (which is my favorite) and now with Cologne Forte.

Cologne forte for me moves veers to both a bit sweeter an a tad smokier vein. The opening is the traditional grapefruit opening but the grapefruit is dipped in sugar/vanilla (not in the notes). The scent is almost linear (which is not necessarily a negative) but there is slight smokier accord which rises to the top.

I hate this term but this is a "dumb reach" scent - perfect for the summer - day/night. Fairly long lasting, with a Guerlain styled intimate projection.

The sporty LHIC
I haven't tried L'Homme Idéal Platine Privé so I can only compare L'Homme Ideal Cologne Forte to L'Homme Idéal Cologne. And compared to the Cologne, it feels like a kind of "sporty" version of it. The smooth, almost creamy combination of almond and neroli in the Cologne is replaced by a sharper, spicier shower-gel-like accord that is supported by frankincense in the base. It feels a bit more unoriginal as a result, but no lower quality. Confusingly given the name, it's quite subtle and doesn't last very long.

Disappointing and synthetic
This doesnt really fit into the guerlain L'homme ideal line. very synthetic and just not pleasant to my nose. I dont understand the LV imagination comparison, this feels much less refined + missing a prominent tea note. to my nose the opening is metallic, synthetic and too screechy, it does get nicer with dry down but still, not great.

French perfumery is now an excuse 4 subpar products. Citrus + light synthcense w/ metal accent. Too simple, too short. Pour l'homme barbant.

Fresh, creamy. Floral. Incensey. That sour, slightly bitter grapefruit freshness that lingers underneath keeps it interesting.

Amazing scent, builds on L'Homme Ideal Cologne scent but not every scent has to be creative. Price is fantastic for what you get.

Nice contrasting creation. Has the L’Homme Idéal Cologne opening
- Platine Privé dry down - but with a slightly darker and spicier twist.
