Surprisingly an animalistic musk
This one may surprise a few Jo Malone fans simply because it is not as prim and proper as her other scents. Intense Iris & White Musk is indeed a musky fragrance, a little on the dirty side of things.

From what I've learnt over the years, musk in fragrances can go two ways. Firstly it can be clean, sensual and feminine, secondly it can be dirty, animalic and loud. This fragrance falls into the second category, something that I don't think anyone would have expected.

Intense Iris & White Musk opens sharply with dirty and damp musk and a hint of sparkling aldehydes. The scent softens over the course of its development, rounding off into a somewhat soapy blend of iris, lily and musk.

My ideal musk is Original Musk by Kiehl's, which may smell crude to some, but to my nose is sexy and masculine. Intense Iris & White Musk is a touch soapier than Original Musk, but equally as unisex. I am also highly impressed by this fragrance's longevity, which holds much longer on the skin than the average cologne. Intense is very apt in describing both this fragrance's sillage and lasting strength.

I really like this fragrance, so much so that I have purchased a sample to test it even further, especially in the colder months. This is an exquisite fragrance that I think at least everyone should try, especially if musk is your thing.

Creamy Soft Suede Naptime
Creamy soft milky iris along with orris root powder is delicately balanced on clean not so powdery dry white musk with a dry down that is slightly of buttery soft suede, a little linen paper/cotton note and a little dash of naughty warm musk (not Egyptian, like Narcisco Rodriguez, more like a drop of Kiehl's Original musk added to the mix like a single tiger roar- well more like a half-hearted house cat meow. This fragrance reminds me somewhat of Jivago 24K softened by an ultra fluffy version of Donna Karan's Cashmere Mist. This is cozy, feminine and warm- but not particular ground breaking. There are days when this is just perfect- like a Cashmere Shawl and an elegant intimate dinner of Fire-roasted Veggies with Buffalo Mozarella paired with a crusty bread and bottle of velvety round Malbec. (Sorry, I digressed).Iris & White Musk is quite wearable, and might easily qualify as a comfortable daytime Winter/Spring signature scent- effortless it gives me a sense of vulnerability and pampered elegance. Will it leave an impression on anyone else- yes, that will likely be "nice and un-offensive". I loved it for the first hour, was intrigued by it for the second hour, and then promptly felt neutral about it as a "FB/Must Have" by the third hour. I believe it is extremely well made and carries a bit more sillage and longevity than most single Jo Malone Colognes as part of the Jo Malone Intense Cologne line...but I've got moves to make, olfactory synapses to exercise and more interesting scents to get to now. Nighty-night.

Stepping Up to Become the Musk King
Kleos Musk Series Part 23

Last year, I crowned Musc Bleu osmo (the oil) as my number one musk fragrance. And now there’s a tussle for the throne: Iris & White Musk is making its bid to become the musk king as well.

Initially, I wasn't so enthusiastic after the first sniffs. I had sniffed this fragrance, but at first, it seemed a bit too masculine to me. My partner shared this opinion, yet was very taken with the scent, both on himself and on me. However, after frequent testing and even more frequent wearing, I now have a completely different impression.

Essentially, I smell what it says on the label: iris and white musk. But especially at the beginning, there’s also something spicy that initially struck me as masculine. However, that dissipates, and I now perceive it differently. Then iris and white musk come into play, and it smells powdery and - in contrast to Musc Bleu - very warm! That’s the only small criticism of Musc Bleu - it’s a bit cool, so I tend to wear it on warm days. Iris & White Musk is “snuggly,” but without any sweetness, and I’ve already received compliments when wearing it.

For me, Iris & White Musk is wearable all year round, equally for men and women. It’s not labeled unisex for nothing. It’s an EDC intense and lasts very well. The sillage is quite strong at first, but it noticeably weakens over time. Nevertheless, Iris & White Musk remains pleasantly detectable for several hours.

In short: This could become my new number one and actually push Musc Bleu aside! But since there’s always a catch, there is one here too: Iris & White Musk has been discontinued. Unfortunately. So I will wear my new number one with delight and enjoy it until the last drop. My 100 ml bottle is still almost full, so it should last a while.

And now, quiet down, boys. You can both take turns sitting on the throne. Always nicely alternating!

Hattu Möhrchen?
Iris & White Musk did not work on my skin; the test strip was enough for me. Therefore, just a brief note.

"Pur" has iris root or solutions and emulsions with this fragrance ingredient, which, alongside the desired properties, has a characteristic smell of raw carrots. This is undesirable, and perfumers strive to cover or alter this without losing the desired properties of the iris root.

This either did not succeed here or was not attempted at all. No thanks, this is not recommended!

Here it is...
... my new fragrance for every day.

After my previous favorite scent, Pioggia Salata, was no longer available at my trusted perfumery, I have been searching for a worthy successor for quite some time, one that would become my constant companion from now on.

It should be powdery, somehow delicate, smell like freshly washed laundry, and envelop me like a gentle breeze. Not too heavy to wear in summer and not too fleeting to be perceived in winter.

During a visit to Berlin, I stumbled upon the fragrances of Jo Malone by chance. After testing several that I didn't like at all, finally, Iris & White Musk came up - with a healthy dose of skepticism on my part. But even with the first sniff on the fragrance strip, I thought to myself, this could be the right one.

I confess that I generally really like iris. However, the composition of most fragrances tends to be either a bit too harsh or sometimes too sweet for my olfactory perception.

But with the combination of musk and violet root, Iris & White Musk develops this fine, feathery light note on my skin that I love so much and would like to wrap myself in all day long.

And here comes the small catch: Unfortunately, the scent doesn't cling very well and fades quite quickly. The large bottle (100 ml is the only size) is not suitable for daily carrying in my handbag, which made the acquisition of a new travel atomizer necessary.

Since several people have already told me in the meantime, "You smell so good. What fragrance is that?", I think I have made the right choice for my daily fragrance well-being experience with Iris & White Musk.

Creaminess in perfection and the eternal question: why are all the good men married and so many top fragrances discontinued?

Iris is powdery, musk is cleansing - not really new! The opening has a sharp, spicy note that quickly fades. Warm, unsweet, cozy.

Nice, powdery, clean scent, slightly green and spicy, a bit unremarkable...if you must, go for White Musk from Bodyshop!

Soapy Iris: Musk battles with iris, lily remains completely quiet. Both quickly lose their strength, leaving only a hint of powder.

Unfortunately, it's too harsh and has a "radish-like" and rooty scent on me - I often experience this with Musc/Iris fragrances on my strange skin, what a pity...
