Don't bother hunting the EDP
For those trying to obtain the elusive EDP, the EDT has all you need! Are you familiar with the EDT? Her tart fruits, fizzy aldehydes, and sumptuous sueded incense-amber base? Do you love her? Well, the EDP is about 90% the same, but without the interest. Skip straight to EDT drydown, and amplify the incense accord. In all, the EDP is only slightly smokier. Also, the EDT performs BETTER. EDP fades fast while EDT lasts the entire day and lingers ever-so-sensually into the next.

Hope this is helpful!

Halston Amber, a little story.. Maybe just a bit obscure?
My mother always told me to avoid opaque situations..
Well, too late..
...........
I recently met someone
..ONLINE..
It was sort of a half blind date, as he hadn’t revealed much about himself online. I could only see one photo.
Well, at least..

Anyway, a few days ago, he stood at my door.
Lucky for me, the photo of him was real.

He looked good, slim, but had a little belly.
I actually find that quite charming.
I invited him into my apartment and he greeted me warmly.
He had a shopping bag with him.
When he set it down, a golden bottle fell out.
I picked it up, it was round and smooth.
He said he had just bought the perfume.
It was actually a women's scent, but one that men could wear too.

I pulled off the cap and smelled the spray head, wow what a beautiful scent.
Creamy - spicy was what I smelled.

I placed the bottle on my table.
Then I turned back to my guest.
He was just emptying the rest of his shopping bag.
He had actually wanted to bring me red currants and mandarins, but since he got hungry on the way, he ate them. Instead, he brought me amber roses. They smelled wonderful.

He kept talking, I didn’t need to ask anything.

On his way to me, he passed a dark street corner, where there was a small shop.
"Incense & Resins" was written on the outside.
That’s where he found the amber roses for me.
He laughed and recounted that behind the counter stood a lady with wild black hair and a plump figure.
Her décolletage was ample and was squeezed by a very tight suede dress.

When she asked him in her raspy voice how she could help him, he said he already knew what he was looking for.
It was dark in the shop, he added, and it smelled of incense and sandalwood.
With the little light and trying to reach over a display for the roses, he knocked over the entire display, he continued.
Bottles with resins and spices broke.
He laughed again and pointed at the roses.
He quickly grabbed them and bolted out of the shop like a greased lightning, he boasted.

I thought I must have misheard and asked if he at least paid for something.
No, why? It was just some "incense stuff" he replied.
Attractive or not, I took him by the shoulders and pushed him out the door.
There, I handed him his bag and said goodbye.

What a guy, he was not for me..

But his perfume Halston Amber, I kept that..
A beautiful, smoky-resinous, slightly creamy scent.
And yes, it works for men too ;)...

Soul Comforter
It's already quite late and I should really go to sleep, so this comment will be rather short. I had read the reviews, the fragrance notes, and then discovered the scent on eBay for 16 something for 100 ml. What was there to think about? I love orientals and I wear them even in the height of summer.....And then my package arrived. I had purposely not applied any fragrance in the morning because I was expecting it, which was very difficult for me. So I sprayed a bit on my wrist and quickly smelled the red berries and amber. It seemed promising.....After about 10 minutes, it began to transform, becoming oh so delicate and cuddly, a gentle hint of leather, entwined with incense, yet still a mild delicate sweetness of sandalwood and beautifully dosed musk. This scent slows me down, it gives me peace and a feeling of security. This fragrance is subtly erotic, but not overly bold. It somewhat reminds me of EROTIQUE by Dita, but is sweeter, milder, more delicate, creamier. I am in love! Heavily in love! The bottle is beautiful and the scent lasts and lasts with a pleasant sillage. I will go to sleep soon and spray it on myself once more before bed, as it calms me in such a wonderful way. It is mature, it is quiet, but at the same time so incredibly exciting and subtly sexy.....a true joy!!

A Gem
While browsing here on Parfumo, where else, I stumbled upon Halston Woman Amber. The pyramid sounded promising, so I ordered the fragrance right away, blind and for a small price. No risk - no fun.

I had heard of the name Halston before, but I couldn't remember where, when, or in what context. So, I did a little research online, and what I found out about the Halston brand, I would like to share with you.

Roy Halston Frowick (1932 - 1990) was an American fashion designer who began his career as a milliner. The pillbox hat he created is legendary, and Jackie Kennedy wore this hat at her husband John F. Kennedy's inauguration in 1961. Mr. Halston Frowick's rise to fame was unstoppable when Mrs. Kennedy chose him as her personal designer, and from then on, his name was practically on everyone's lips. He achieved cult status when he began designing women's fashion. His prominent clients included none other than the unforgettable Liz Taylor, Liza Minelli, Lauren Bacall, Anjelica Huston, Bianca Jagger, etc. … the list could go on forever. In 1973, R. Halston Frowick sold his empire, and by the time Halston Woman Amber was launched, he had already been dead for 20 years.

But now to the fragrance. I do not perceive mandarin. Instead, there is a fruity note without acidity, and to be honest, I wouldn't have recognized the blackcurrant. The aldehydes come in very softly, finely, and very, very subtly, so that they are hardly noticeable.

Then, a hint of a finely ambered rose appears, quickly accompanied by tuberose. Fragrances with tuberose tend to be loud, some even quite shrill, but that is absolutely not the case here. Musk, buttery soft suede, a hint of incense, and warm sandalwood create a beautiful connection with each other, making the fragrance well-rounded. For me, HWA is a very successful composition that is soft, warm, cuddly, and absolutely harmonious.

Although HWA is marketed as a women's fragrance, I believe it can just as well be worn by men. A well-groomed creaminess, paired with fruit and tamed tuberose in combination with leather suits everyone. Or?

The packaging is very high-quality. The golden bottle with a bent neck (I can't think of a better description) resides in a gold-colored box. When you remove the cap, the bottle is presented on a black pedestal covered with a velvety fabric. Wow. I call that a successful appearance.

I will wear HWA throughout the year, depending on my mood, but not in the height of summer with sultry temperatures beyond the 30° mark.

HWA is a rather serious but by no means sad, mature fragrance and certainly not a party hit, nor is it for girly types. Here, it convinces with quiet, gentle, warm tones.

Because I was absolutely thrilled with HWA right away, I also ordered the silver sister, again blind. Hopefully, it can excite me similarly. You will find out. I promise.

'Streaming creates' ...!?
By chance, I stumbled upon the series 'Halston' on Netflix. Since I was not familiar with the designer or the label, and then saw that H. also created perfume, I had to do some research first. Such a 'gap in knowledge' can't just be left hanging! So first, I went online, then to Parfumo. The fragrance pyramid immediately appealed to me, everything I like was there, and the good scent descriptions were clear: I have to own this fragrance!! Blind buy!
Now I have it!! I like it very much!! It is soft, gentle, subtle, yet very present and long-lasting. The berries in the opening don't really reach me, I sense the rose in the heart, the tuberose as well, but the melting together with the dominant amber, incense, sandalwood, etc. creates, in my opinion/for my nose, a magnificent fragrance composition that is, in my view, wearable all year round.
I am pleased with this purchase. I wonder how the original smelled??

Halston Woman Amber, why did they stop making it? It's a good scent. If anything, have a modern perfume come in and do a small update.

Not quite the rave worthy gal she is said to be. Leans too fruity to keep it in the strict amber genre as a yardstick.

Aldehydes make the amber come across as rather (untypically) soapy. Along with gentle flowers, light woods, and fine leather. Not oriental -

Fragrances in such beautiful bottles can't be bad. Subtle amber (compared to some niche ambers). Back then, it was powerful!
