Another discontinued Halston flanker
Halston Z came on the scene very quietly in 1998 as a Woody flanker to the original Halston Z-14. This is a mediocre Masculine Aromatic that underperforms in a big way and that's a huge disappointment, considering the scent itself is really nice. I still love Elsa Perettis bottle design as it's immediately identified as a Halston product and could've been found in any drugstore. Back in 1998 I was 27yrs old and back then I still had a big interest in fragrances but for the life of me I simply cannot remember this one at all. I'd love to get my hands on Amber Man because I have a feeling that one is a winner but every time I look for it it's always sold out. This fragrance has notes of Bergamot, Coriander, Lemon, Mandarin Orange, Lavender, Cedar, Geranium, Juniper Berries, Lily of the Valley, Jasmine, Neroli, Oakmoss, Musk, Vetiver, Ambergris, Sandalwood and Palisander Rosewood. Boy I wish I had a better trained nose so I could better identify the Fragrance note by note so I can get better at fragrance reviews. Everything I talk about comes from my memory and maybe I'll tell a story or two. I have a Vintage bottle from French Fragrances that's well blended and has a light woody scent that unfortunately dissipates much too quickly. In fact, the Longevity as a whole is mediocre at best. This Eau de Toilette, you'd think, would or should last longer than 4 or 5 hrs, especially when you consider the note lineup here in but with fragrances I swear you just never know so you have to just hope for the best. Halston Z is definitely not a popular or much discussed Fragrance but that doesn't mean that it's no good. In fact, i like this Woody Fougere and it does have some positives going for it. It's a pleasant, inoffensive and linear fragrance that'll take you back to your younger years and last but not least I have no idea whether or not this was ever reformulated but considering the fact that there's Oakmoss in the base I'd say yes to it being reformulated.

Typical 90s
I do like the cool bottles from Halston a lot... but none of their fragrances has made it high up on my list of favorites. Okay, maybe Z-14 is the closest, which even served as inspiration for a Tom Ford Private Blend. Still, I didn't say no to the mini of Halston Z. Even though it has absolutely nothing in common with the good Z-14. It was more like a freebie with an order, so it's a bit hard for me to be really strict with it.

Halston Z exudes a bit of 90s charm, and that's nothing to be ashamed of. It is a lightly synthetic-citrusy, yet down-to-earth blend of the new Lacoste Live and Cerruti's Image. Whether it's high school sports, the gym, the office, or leisure time - it fits and is solid, but it's more of a pleasant wallflower. Additionally, the fragrance has a slightly sweaty-synthetic teenage vibe, even though it seems to want to be a mid-20s guy just starting his professional life. He has saved up for his first suit and bought it himself, and he's shaved his facial hair. But he’s still not a businessman. Limes, woods, musk, vetiver, a bit soapy, a little green, sweet cinnamon, green chypre - what sounds like a wild mix is more of a harmless blank shot. Don't get me wrong, it's not a bad fragrance. But who on earth is going to buy it, with thousands of better, louder, more spectacular scents on the market? The price is actually irrelevant.

Bottle: still stylish in light, though cooler in dark.
Sillage: an office wallflower.
Longevity: decent - 6 hours.

Another solid fragrance from Halston, who also managed to skillfully blend into the background in the 90s and fade away with an ever-present bore.

Unspectacular, solid...
... and for what one is used to from Halston (Z-14, I-12, or even Catalyst), rather restrained. This fragrance does not etch itself into the olfactory memory.

I wouldn't call it "meaningless" or even "insignificant," but rather lean towards "versatile" or "always wearable."

The listed 17 ingredients seem a bit exaggerated to me; in any case, they are hard to separate here or change rapidly. A truly "pleasant" scent, and I certainly do not mean this in a derogatory way. It doesn't always have to be explosive, and this fragrance has exactly the softness and harmony that makes it quite suitable in spring/early summer. I also believe I can detect a certain similarity to Cerruti's "Image."

This fragrance has only two owners here, and even from the USA, OFs are not so easily obtainable. It's not something one necessarily has to have. My 5 ml mini will last me a while longer.

One of those anonymous parfumes just laying in the center console. Easy floral a little stronger and it would be learning most to feminine.

This fragrance is just Ok. There's nothing really special concerning this discontinued EDT
