Singularly Gorgeous
What It Is: Jean-Claude Ellena's unsweetened cardamom iced tea with a lemon wedge on a patio in Provence. Voyage opens with an absolutely stunning photorealistic cardamom note which gives way to a sunny lemon tea dry down. There's a juniper bush nearby for a bite of freshness in high heat and some amber for added richness which can power through cold weather. This is linear, timeless, noble, and unisex AF.

Who It's For: You were disappointed by the original Voyage EDT's longevity and sugary immaturity, but you loved the core DNA. You're 30+ and want one do-it-all fragrance that works in all settings, but dislike the "blue" ambroxan trend or generic florals. You like linen, good tailoring, and sunshine.

Alternatives: Voyage EDT is more sparkling with more air in the scent profile; it's closer to a fougere than the parfum (which is tighter & more linear in structure) but it's also sweeter and less grown up.

For me, this is an 11/10... the definition of excellent perfumery and a sleeper that is underrated and slept on by most of the fragrance community. With all due respect to Terre, I believe Voyage parfum is Ellena's masterpiece.

Classy, classic and a masterpiece
I really love the opening of this perfume. Fresh, elegant lemon mixed with a beautiful, very true to life cardamom note. Just so happy, smooth and effortly classy at the same time.
Later it becomes a lot more powdery, at least on my (feminine) skin. Rose and tea are main players now and the perfume's strength has dried down to a whisper.
The last stage (after about two hours) is a soft spicy, light and transparant amber, with some woods to balance any sweetness the amber might bring with it. There are also some floral notes to balance the spicy ones. I normally don't like amber scents, but the transparancy here does make it work for me. This last stage is a quiet skinscent for sure, albeit a very elegant one, but it does linger for a few more hours.

Once at Hafez' grave read poems from the divan
Everything has probably already been said about "Voyage d'Hermès" - and yet today I would like to write a small, very personal commentary on this extraordinary perfume. My "pre-commentator" formulated it so aptly: "Just write that this scent is horny."
Today I will simply write what story I associate with him and why I am giving him to myself this year for Christmas.
Normally I don't take part in competitions, but in 2010 I read an advertisement for Voyage d'Hermès, accompanied by a call to write a poem on the subject of travel. Since I really like the brand and the advertising campaign appealed to me, I wrote a few lines in which I left out my personal associations and travel dreams.
Without long thinking I clicked on "send".
2010 was also the year in which the owner of Hermès died. Strangely enough, on the same day as my own father, May 1. I read the short news of the death of the Hermès boss a few days after his death in the "Spiegel". Strange coincidence. You remember things like that, of course.

Around the beginning of June 2010 the postman rang my doorbell and brought me a very noble looking parcel from France.
"Funny," I thought, "I didn't order anything...?"
The sender was the company Hermès, Paris. Could it be that I've won something?
And really: My poem about my travel dreams had earned me a prize. 100 ml Voyage d'Hermès in a refillable travel bottle plus refill and storage bag, plus a letter from Hermès... on beautiful paper in one of my favorite languages, en français.
Do I have to mention that this was the first time I won anything in a competition? Yes! I also have to add that I love cardamom... that the scent contains a lot of it, that I like it so much just because of that...
And the travel dream?
It refers to the distant land where my father was born.
For 2019 I wish I could get to know this country once in my life.
That's why I bought the perfume from Voyage.
It's a little less tangy than the eau de toilette and sweeter in the drydown. In addition, the smaller bottle is more handy and can be taken along wonderfully on a journey.
Dreams are worth realizing. In 2019 I will do exactly what I imagined in my poem. There can only be one perfume that travels with me to my father's country: "Voyage d'Hermès."

Late bloomer!
Why did Voyage pass me by so completely? I can only explain it by the fact that he is predominantly, by the way completely wrongly, to be found only on the men's shelf ..... or because the flacon is not my case at all! Actually, I'm not impressed. Anyway, late bloomer, but really sorry I didn't have it on my screen.

All the more beautiful our first encounter. I was looking for something extraordinary, sunny, fluffy and uncomplicated. Okay, he's not uncomplicated. But he grabbed me. I find the composition of the scents really ingenious, dreamlike and captivating.

The prelude is lemony fresh and cheerful. In the course of time it develops woody, warm, rosy, enveloping and at no time aftershave moderately. I find him clearly unisex but definitely incredibly well suited for the female race. It also develops completely differently on my skin than it does on my husband. With him he rather goes in the super citric direction, with me he gets creamy warm.

A fragrance without equal.
He makes me happy.

The silage is rather mediocre, which is okay. You don't want to attract much attention with this fragrance. Although I think it's going down pretty well. At least I'm often asked.
The shelf life is okay at approx. 5-6 hours.

I think this will be my new treasure for now. Let's see what time brings.

Unexpected prophecies
A few years ago - I mean, it was 2013 - I consciously noticed this scent for the first time. That was in high summer at an open air near the forest, pretty much in the center of the republic. Despite an estimated two thousand visitors, the atmosphere was overall very pleasant and familiar, due to the green idyll and tall shady mixed forest groves. Well, I have to admit: the community around the party makers is known to me and I am more or less a part of it. But still: the atmosphere felt very free and relaxed. There was this invisible cloud of relaxation, empathy, and awareness of the specialness of the situation hovering over everything.
In moments when you perceive this aura live and are so happy that it's there, it often ebbs away shortly after. Probably because expectations begin to grow exponentially ad hoc as soon as the perceptions described occur. I guess in about 10%* of the cases this flight of fancy lasts and the party stays in the memory. About 1%* of the time, the hours that follow exceed expectations. The upside of this, this will henceforth form a pillar in cortex and cortex. The disadvantage: as soon as the described advantage occurs, very long afterwards many parties and happenings are inevitably measured against it, which is in a way unfair to subsequent events and their almost unfulfillable prophecy.
In the present case the peculiarity of the circumstances was largely forced by an encounter with a good acquaintance.
I was standing at the bar, had just gotten my drink, and that very acquaintance came straight at me from the direction of the dance floor, with a small crowd around her. We had not seen each other for a long time at this point and greeted each other accordingly warmly and exuberantly. In doing so, of course, we become relatively close. We chatted briefly. After ten minutes, I went dancing. She went somewhere else. Already on the way to the dance floor everything was a little different for me than before, I thought. Even while dancing, I couldn't shake this feeling. The green of the trees was stronger, the sky was bluer, the music was better and the people around me were even more cheerful.
I blamed it on the general feeling of well-being, but felt an urge within me to see my acquaintance again as soon as possible. I began to look for her in the grounds. Found her quite quickly and was all the more pleased. We talked more and more and soon I noticed that one question was burning more and more under my nails. I must say, that acquaintance has Spanish roots, black half-long hair and a very winning smile. The scent she wore I would never have attributed to her type before. She wore it, however, with such nonchalance that she henceforth epitomized what wearing a perfume associates for me with a most unpretentious yet eccentric sense of self.
I noticed that the feeling of approximate perfection triggered in me was also prevalent in her and she radiated a perpetual joy, knowing that I was the same. She retrieved a small glass bottle from her pocket and sprayed a spritz from it on each of my wrists.
Two months later, on a holiday trip to Mauritius, I bought this fragrance in the duty free. Every time I put it on, I think of that day in the summer of 2013. Unexpected and implausible, yet inevitable.

Woody, spicy, less citrusy-fresh and less green than the EDT. Cardamom, lemon, tea and creamy woodsy notes.

Imagine making an exquisite soup. When doing final seasoning, the lid comes off the pepper mill over the soup. This is Voyage d’Hermès.

Gorgeous creamy perfume. Spicy yet no sharp, the cardamon and pink pepper(?) are dominant laid on a smooth woody base (sandalwood?)

Cardamom and gin/tonic opening is too dry for me. Mid is not well defined. Atomizer is bloody awful and cheap. Unique scent, however.
