Why is hardly anyone fond of it?
I really have to ask myself this here. Only 11 people officially own the Braukmann Evolution EdT, which honestly surprises me quite a bit.
Why is that? Is there a general rejection of drugstore fragrances? Is it the very unpretentious and inconspicuous packaging that makes people overlook it?
Are fragrances from the Braukmann house somehow frowned upon? That is truly a shame because Evolution absolutely does not have to hide behind the "big" and well-known fragrances; on the contrary, in the drugstore segment, it is one of the most pleasant and valuable scents I know. And all at an unbeatable price. Or is there a hidden number of fans?
No, I really must take a stand and honor this very nice scent with a few warm words.
The fragrance wheel is certainly not newly invented here, and one has oriented itself towards other "all-round fragrances" that have existed for several years (I wouldn't say copied, that would be harsh), but you get well-made, solid, and absolutely wearable fragrance craftsmanship for your money.
Even during my very first wearing several years ago, I could notice a very close relationship to both Roma Uomo and Minotaure; Evolution combines the advantages of both scents and still creates something very distinctive.
I have both Roma Uomo and Minotaure here and was able to compare. There are differences in the fragrance compositions, but also some similarities.
All three share a rather fresh and lively opening with citrus and herbs; in Evolution, there is also a certain cooling sharpness, could there perhaps be a bit of mint in there?
Then follows a floral-sweet phase with a lot of rose geranium, which is present in all three. However, Evolution also takes its own steps here, as the herbal, slightly sharp freshness remains intact.
Later, it becomes a bit spicier and woodier; I suspect the indicated "woody notes" also contain cedar, which fits in very well here. Rounded off with amber, and I think I can also detect a hint of vanilla.
Overall, Evolution is less complex and goes through the fragrance development quite quickly; it lacks the slightly animalistic undertone of Minotaure and the rather sweet-fruity progression of Roma.
The sweetness is certainly noticeable but does not overwhelm at all.
I find that with Evolution, the Braukmann house has created a really beautiful and very wearable fragrance that may suit many occasions. With a not-so-huge scent cloud, it works very well in the office (you will definitely be noticed), it is a really nice companion for leisure activities, and I can also imagine it well for the evening.
The longevity is really more than decent at just over 6 hours; even afterwards, it is still gently present close to the skin.
The bottle is more than simple and functional, but here the inner values count. Evolution smells to me like much more than just around 20 € for 75 ml.
I am certainly very glad that I didn't walk past it carelessly on the shelf back then. The Braukmann fragrances are usually not in the fragrance shelf but with the care products, quite inconspicuous. That could also be a reason for being overlooked.
Recently, I managed to snag 2 bunker bottles at a clearance sale at a perfumery, reduced by 70%, along with shower gel and deodorant. The entire care series is high-quality and wonderfully coordinated.
Unfortunately, the Evolution series, as it is, has been discontinued. I don't know the successor series yet, but I will test it when I get the chance.
I can only recommend everyone to grab this if you like fresh-spicy fragrances with moderate sweetness. Evolution is still very affordable.
It is worth giving it a little love. Because as has been noted many times: Good things don't have to cost a fortune!
