spicy, citrusy and woody opening, soapy aldehydic surprise
this one surprised me, at first I had no idea what to expect, but I ended up liking it, opening is spicy, citrusy and woody with vanilla notes in there, sweet, fruity, pretty fresh, and on the dry down it gets soapy, musky, almost floral leaning, quite aldehydic/ozonic in a marine/aquatic kind of way, but without any of the actual marine fragrance elements, just that specific quality, which I can appreciate, spray and dry down both have a pretty drastic change and they both evolve quite a lot, which is interesting, I'm also getting the sillage is different than the close up effect, which gives it a certain complexity

nice, but not sure I can justify getting a bottle for this one

Je Ne Sais Quoi
Another sample I ordered from Luckyscent with my birthday money that I'm quite pleased with! This starts out woody with a slight hint of citrus that sweetens and develops a creaminess as it warms up on my skin. I've also noticed it becoming a little fresher as time goes on too, which isn't something I've ever really experienced in a fragrance before. This smells familiar and comforting, but I'm not sure what it reminds me of. That, coupled with keeping the notes a secret, makes me want to come back for more as I try to figure out what's in this and what it reminds me of. This is honestly something I would classify as a skin scent and definitely something that's going on my wish list!

A Blue Question Mark Over Hot Asphalt
A fragrance that officially reveals not a single note is, in 2026, not a novelty, but still a statement. “This is not a Blue Bottle 1.8 - Sold Out!” by Histoires de Parfums denies us any pyramid and any ingredient list - and does exactly the opposite of what the market usually does. Instead of “with 27 rare essences,” it simply states: nothing. Sold Out - also the notes.

Histoires de Parfums usually tells very concrete, historical stories: years, people, books, clearly named raw materials. The “Blue Bottle” series has always been an abstraction - more concept than biography, inspired by surrealism, color, energy, emotion. 1.8 takes it a step further: We get color (blue), a number, the title “Sold Out” - and then there is only what happens between skin and nose.

Olfactorily, the fragrance does not remain silent. On the skin, a tension field of citrus, ozone, and amber quickly emerges. The opening feels like a freshly squeezed lemon over warm, light wood: a clear, slightly bitter citrus freshness that is immediately underpinned by a creamy, almost velvety texture. This texture “lifts” the fragrance upward and outward and quickly transforms into a radiant-ozonic brightness, which I imagine as a blue light cone - clean, glassy, slightly synthetic, but intentionally so.

Over this, a fine saltiness settles in my nose, like a thin film of salt on the skin after a day spent walking through an overheated city. Floral notes are at best vague, more atmosphere than flower: shimmering, slightly soapy, very aldehydic, presumably a decent portion of Hedione, simulating light and air instead of showcasing a concrete bouquet. It is the opposite of romantic florality - more a “clean shimmer.”

In the heart, this ozonic-aldehydic radiance remains surprisingly stable. Instead of veering into familiar categories like “white floral” or “spicy,” the fragrance maintains its glassy height while simultaneously beginning to build a subtle mossy-mineral structure. This does not feel like forest floor, more like “urban moss”: concrete joints where green grows, somewhere between industrial and organic. Oceanic facets and bitter-green nuances meet in the background, creating in the mind something like a modern chypre quality - synthetic city moss instead of classic oak moss.

The drydown likely belongs to an Ambroxan framework and related, dry amber molecules. The warmth that develops is rough-mineral, more like heated stones and asphalt than a soft vanilla-amber cushion. One has associations of hot pavement, curbs, facades in the sun - all in a pale, slightly metallic, blue light. The brightness of the opening remains like a shimmer over this base, so that the fragrance shines more than it cuddles even at the end.

The image that forms for me: a big city in midsummer. The heat hovers over the asphalt, the air shimmers; in the distance, chlorine and fries from the public pool, a cool soda in hand, this scent on the skin. Not a Mediterranean dream beach, but a very concrete snapshot of overheating, urban longing, and synthetically radiant blue.

The “main character” is not a classic raw material, but a structural idea: the combination of ozonic-aldehydic light, maritime saltiness, and Ambroxan-supported minerality. In a time when many fragrances compete for attention with increasingly longer note lists, "Sold Out!" serves as a commentary: We get title, color, concept - and must sniff out the rest ourselves. This not only makes it a perfume but also a little jab at marketing, transparency promises, and our desire to press everything into pyramid-shaped lists.

For me, “This is not a Blue Bottle 1.8 - Sold Out!” works best when taken exactly as it is: as a blue riddle on the skin that tells less about raw materials than about a feeling. And one that should not be read but actually smelled. And indeed on the skin, because on paper it only works half as well.

Modern luxury, creamy and lightly aldehydic.
Sweet and fresh like mojitos on the rooftop terrace.

Ozonous-aldehydic citrus-floral on a modern chypre base. It's really exciting, fresh, and radiant!

Citrus? Lavender? Body lotion? I don’t know but I really like it! Creamy, slightly sweet citrus scent for summer. 100% unisex.

Hm, it smells more like a well-known men's fragrance to me, but unfortunately neither creamy nor floral. In the end, it's slightly aquatic. More on the masculine side.
