Like the Dew of a Green Meadow in Japan Mei Li

this scent was one of the best I ordered from Isabell.
At that time I received a small sample of it and
was so thrilled that I immediately ordered two flacons of it.

In terms of scent progression, it is like an Eau de Cologne with a subtle green note.
But there are also freesias, white flowers, and peonies.
Simply class.

This scent then develops into a light powder.
In the hope of chasing the scent, I was unfortunately disappointed.
That was probably a one-time thing and is gone.

There is a very, very strong similarity to Chanel 19 Eau de Pudre and
Bulgari Omnia Green Jade.

Mei Li

I miss no fragrance as much as this one. I still keep a tiny bit in my bottle. Fineness and yet presence characterize this scent. The unique composition has something vibrant, delicate, and at the same time understated. More unconsciously, one perceives this fresh hint, like a slightly faded image that will never be forgotten.

I'm like a bird, I wanna fly away...

Mei Li is the fragrance that I was most often complimented on when I wore it, always with "what a great scent you're wearing today." Yet, Mei Li was one of the more unremarkable scents from Derroisné. It was available in a two-pack as a 20 ml spray, which I got back then. Back then, that was at least 10 years ago. To this day, I don't understand why the house of Derroisné hasn't produced more of this fragrance. A beautiful bottle in a great package, and it could be a signature scent. Well, it just wasn't meant to be.

Since the fragrance is still listed and I still own it, I want to try to describe it.

Reading the components it consists of, one might assume it to be a rather heavy composition, like unfortunately many of the Derroisné fragrances. With Mei Li, it's completely different. There is actually no pyramid, yet the scent evolves beautifully in shades over time.

The opening is fresh-fruity-green, but it quickly blends with the floral notes. And these are truly something special. They are not sweet, but present, and as fluffy as clouds. In any case, the flowers, especially the peony, but also the freesia, rose, and osmanthus, form a very beautiful, harmoniously balanced unit. Later on, green notes combined with amber and musk provide grounding and longevity. If leather is present, it is very light and very bright.

If the sillage and longevity were worse, I would almost describe Mei Li as an aquatic scent. In fact, however, the fragrance is very perceptible and leaves a delicate scent trail. The longevity is good; applied in the morning, it lasts until early evening.

The scent is unique and has a high recognition factor. I don't know any fragrance that is like Mei Li. Although it is really not a rose scent, as the mentioned rose is at best a supporting character here, I really like the fragrance and use it whenever I want to feel fresh but don't want a sweet floral scent nor a green one.
