Tihota
After hearing about this famous (but expensive ) vanilla fragrance for years, I’ve finally gotten my hand on a sample!!! Main accords are vanilla, sweet, musky, and powdery, and the notes consist of only vanilla & musk. How odd lol. So as soon as I smelt this perfume, I recognized immediately that I’d smelt this exact DNA before *numerous* times.

To confirm my thoughts, I had my sister smell it and she said “Are you wearing Pink Sugar?” It doesn’t smell like PS, but I can see why she said that because Indult Tihota smells like super sweet & airy vanilla + cotton candy to me. In fact, it smells EXACTLY like Outremer Vanille and Solinotes Vanille (and 80% like Montale Sweet Vanilla but Montale has a bit more apricoty fruitiness to it). I own all 3 so I LOVE THIS DNA!! I can say I love Indult Tohota and it’s worth the hype for me. If I was rich, I’d totally get it but I don’t think it’s really necessary because (imo) it smells EXACTLY like Solinotes Vanille (smell it at Target, it’s gorgeous!) and Outremer Vanille, both of which are less than $25.

Vanilla in all of its creamy glory
I'm still here, searching for those divine vanilla scents. Although I have a couple in my collection now, I'm always on the hunt for different interpretations and this is how I stumbled upon Indult's version. Had the chance to take a sample home from my visit to Etiket, and now is the time to try it out.

Tihota is a photorealistic vanilla: creamy, heavenly and well crafted. It's not too sweet, not too powdery, not too woody, just done right. It shares some qualities with Escapade Gourmande and I'm not sure you need both when you have one, but it's nonetheless a divine scent to have on one's skin. I'd probably say it's a staple for gourmands. There's this lovely, airy and creamy aspect to it that's warm and comforting (a perfect fit for cold weather). It's not heavy or cloying which tells me I could also probably wear it during spring. Vanilla, tonka beans, almond milk, cream and cane sugar are the notes that stand out the most on my skin, although there's a faint hint of woodiness coming through that keeps everything from becoming too sweet or too powdery. I'll probably be adding this interpretation to my collection for it's creaminess: something I hadn't met in a vanilla perfume up until now.

Vanilla
If you love Vanilla scents, this is your perfume. I was curious. We had a long discussion about dupes at Fragrantica and because INDULT "Tihota" was only available in a limited edition and written up in the perfume blog internet world as extraordinary ... we wanted to get a whiff of it via a dupe. This dupe came from a Candlemaker firm and when I tested it on paper, it simply smelled wonderful. Out of this world. Sexy. That was on paper. On my arm, I did not want to test it, because essential oils are harsh and diluted, well, it would not be as potent.

Okay. The minute the news came through that "Tihota" is again available, I followed this information like a bloodhound. A sample from LUCKYSCENT quickly landed in the mailbox.

On my arm next. Let us see, I mean sniff and experience. What I get in a full beautiful impact is Vanilla, Vanilla, Vanilla. The purest Vanilla I have ever experienced. Mostly when Vanilla is an ingredient as part of a perfume composition, it has its creamy and powdery presence. Here, it is pure.

I went into the kitchen and compared it with Vanilla baking oil. That smelled authentic but raw, with edges, in a way "unkempt". "Tihota" is very fine, subtle and for lack of another word, "angelic".

The notes list Musk and Tonkabean. That is possible, although my rather unprofessional nose smells Vanilla from beginning to end.

For the lovers of Vanilla - try this and you may absolutely adore it.

Quite frankly, speaking for myself, I like the scent ... but want it to be more rounded out with something else. More "flower power". (I found that in a floral creamy perfume "La Route d'Emeraude", at which "meeting" I could not get enough of it and kept sniffing the arm.)

Maybe for another perfumista "Tihota" provides that "cannot stop sniffing" experience. For me, it stopped at being fair and scientific about the scent.

It projects just a little, depending how heavy one wishes to put it on, but it has very good lasting power.

The price is high, maybe with the new launch it can be made in smaller sizes, we shall see. I still would not buy it. I have seen (sniffed) enough. For me it does not have enough "flower power".

A delightful vanilla with amber and resinous notes - not cheap!
Indult Paris was originally founded by Francis Kurkdjian in 2006. He left this company at some point, leaving behind Indult with just four fragrances created by him. Indult remains frozen in time now with no new fragrances. I wonder why this brand has not yet been absorbed by a larger house. My review of Tihota is based on an original sample vial, bought from Jovoy Paris.

Indult website lists vanilla, cane sugar, almond milk accord, tonka bean, white musk and amber as the main notes in Tihota. Not surprisingly, this fragrance and its notes are very similar to perfume like Essential Parfums Divine Vanilla and Jovoy Fire at Will. Parfumo also adds cream, blond woods, benzoin and Palo Santo to the list of notes, though some of these can be rolled into the amber accord. On my skin, the opening is a lovely vanilla along with almond, cane sugar, tonka bean and resin accords. There is something sharp and spicy in the opening, which could be the accord interpreted as benzoin absolute or Palo Santo by some users. It could also be the unique preparation of Tahitian vanilla used in Tihota. This sharp spiciness separates Tihota from the more classical vanilla scents like Fire at Will. The heart notes are a continuation of the opening notes, but the amber personality from benzoin gets more highlighted in the middle. The base notes are benzoin and vanilla with woody musky nuances. As is common with most vanilla-resin fragrances, the progression is very linear with no sharp turns or surprises.

The performance of Tihota is very good on my skin, though not as long-lived as Fire at Will. Tihota shows good projection and sillage for the first few hours. I like the amber-vanilla base notes that linger much longer. I am not sure Tihota is a good office perfumes as it has a strong personality and can be distracting to others.

I put Tihota in the same basket as Fire at Will and Divine Vanille. I am sure that there are many more vanilla fragrances with similar personalities. Though Tihota is an amazing vanilla, you can get a similar performance with Fire at Will or Divine Vanille at a much lower cost. I don’t think you can differentiate these perfumes in the wild. I had to spray these on paper strips and evaluate them longitudinally to figure out the nuances. If I must pick a perfume, I will choose a full bottle of Fire at Will for its straightforward vanilla-cookie gourmand brilliance and a 10 ml travel size of Divine Vanille for the resinous vanilla qualities. Jovoy Paris is the cheapest outlet for Tihota in my experience.

How vanilla should smell !
This is the most authentic representation of Vanilla in a perfume. Not sickly sweet, nor gooey/sticky and just the right bit gourmand. The vanilla here as mentioned is heavenly and nothing that I have smelled in any other perfume so far. Vanilla here hands down beats Guerlain Spiriteus Double Vanille and Atelier des Ors Lune Feline. Indult Tihota is a very comforting scent and I wear it mostly to feel better and lift my mood.

A heavenly, creamy perfume where vanilla shines. A bit pricey, but for those who want a photorealistic vanilla, this is the one.

Tihota is a very well-made vanilla. Gourmand, not overly sweet, powdery, creamy/milky and slightly smoky. Delicious but quite overpriced.

Photo-real vanilla bean perfect for layering in every way except the price. At 1/2 the MSRP, this would be a no-brainer to keep on hand.

Textbook baked vanilla goodness. However its high quality means that it's limited to cold weather as it's quite sweet.

Sweet (but not super sweet like Vanille West Indies), creamy, sensual. It is a very pure vanilla. Comforting, but consequently not exciting.
