Ombre Rose is the ultimate boudoir scent, a peach-inflected enticing whisper, the softest, most velvety white petals. Opening with aldehydes muted with stone fruit lactones and a gorgeous rosewood, then it unravels to present a pale rose with a ylang ylang fondant.

This is not the kind of powder that could choke—it is a sheer and light iris and tonka, yet the musk is vibrational, perfect for snuggle times, nuzzle times, anything in bed, really. My vintage Alfin version of the EDT has been added to my selection of fragrant nightcaps. Sweet dreams!

This review applies to both the EDT and the EDP.

On the occasion of sniffing a small vintage miniature that I still have, I decided to purchase this beautiful fragrance again.

Big mistake..!! At least for those who specifically liked the vintage (when it was not yet a vintage). A second attempt with the EDP led to the same result.

The current OMBRE ROSE is a fragrance where the EDT and EDP actually smell the same and only differ in their strength and density…….there is, so to speak, a summer and a winter version.

In the current version, I miss the shimmer, the clarity, and the fresh powderiness of the vintage. Specifically: Aldehydes and vetiver are noticeably missing. Additionally, the current version also contains coumarin, which, to my knowledge, was not present in the original version…..

Thus, the current version is indeed primarily rosy-powdery and no longer fresh-powdery,……it has less iris content, is less radiant and sparkling, and overall more modern. This is not necessarily bad, but it is simply not what I wanted….

Ah…..there used to be more tinsel *grin*…..
