hello again, 90s yellow flower amber
To me smells dated, but divinely so! Sunny, sultry yellow floral with sweet, warm amber. Like a red-checkered slip dress with a white t-shirt and straw hat with a giant daisy. Ad the Docs and John Lennon round sunglasses and I am right back in the prime of my youth. Nostalgic in the best way!

We just don't see these powder-bomb ylangs anymore, which is a crying shame. Think Goutal's Songes, but with a bright tea rose and semi-soapy lily. Relaxed, but put-together. Hard-working, but with a sense of humor. All subjectives aside, if you enjoy sort of heavy-lidded yellow florals, coquettish blush of sweetness, and grounding amber-woods, try Ombre d'Or (golden shade). I have the EDP but plan to get the parfum, too, to see if it has more throw (will update on that page). As-is, the EDP is low-moderate sillage/projection. Just lovely.

Brosseau Evening Scent
I search and search, but it can only be found in a very limited number somewhere in the vastness of the internet.
So I have a treasure at home and don’t even know it!

This is the opulent evening scent from Brosseau. It lasts exceptionally well.
Ombre d'Or is a floral oriental. Jasmine, lily of the valley, mimosa, and tiare are included alongside plum, orange, and beeswax. (Currently, there is no list available, so here it is). The opening is said to contain vodka as well, which I didn’t notice due to the wonderful floral flood, except for a slightly alcoholic note. Jasmine and lily of the valley are a bold combination, as both can be quite dominant. Here, one flower hops forward, then the other, chasing after the rolling plum that tries to hide behind the beehive. The mimosa-tiare net eventually catches them. It sounds abrupt, but the progression is morphed, blending in an old-school cinematic manner. Very nicely done. A powderiness that sets in after about 20 minutes cannot really establish itself. Iris or perhaps even rose should actually be listed, as these flowers can create powderiness. I don’t think mimosa has the strength for that.

In the base, there is something that gives me a headache. Perhaps amber and a hint of cedar, as I believe I can detect a touch of woodiness. And definitely light musk, even if it doesn’t appear on the list.

Ombre d'Or is a very complex, balanced oriental in the truest sense of the word. Old school and perhaps too extravagant, hence no longer in the program. A shame. The trend is moving back towards more voluminous scents, so maybe it will come back someday. I will guard my copy like a treasure.

An interesting, beautiful - yet very shy scent. My surroundings don't notice it. I have to sniff it up close.

when the indole is gone, a beautiful floral blend remains (I smell freesia and tuberose)
It has something...

Lily of the valley in evening light,
golden pearls on bright blossoms,
ylang butter and soft powder,
merge into a romantic fragrance.

Here, the blossoms hang so low and powdery-sweet, sighing over the edge of the vase, that an almost animalistic tone becomes apparent: opulently beautiful.
