After I set aside my silly prejudices against Jovan - good things don't have to be expensive - I dared to approach "Silky Rose."
What a stroke of luck! I am enveloped by a characterful warm scent, marked by musk, amber, and vanilla. In between, rose and jasmine flash through, making the beautiful oriental composition pleasantly cheerful without being directly floral.
Due to its heaviness, it is more of a winter or evening fragrance, with enormous longevity.
I gifted a bottle of Silky Rose to my mother-in-law, a loyal No 5 wearer, and she was extremely taken with the scent.
So, it holds true here as well - always stay open to everything.

Patchouli Rose
Silky Rose is one of three unisex fragrances that Jovan launched in 2012. The other two are called "Intense Oud" and "Secret Amber" and, according to my brief research, are currently only available in the Arab world. The line seems to be aimed at this market based on its overall presentation (it is also referred to as "Oriental Collection" on some websites), and so only Silky Rose made it into our drugstores. If I'm not mistaken, it launched at a bargain price.
I can understand if the fragrance is off-putting at first; I felt the same way. One expects drugstore scents to be immediately accessible and pleasing to the point of inducing a coma, but SR does not cater to that. The name is also completely misleading and suggests a delicate, spring-like floral veil, which you don't get either.
Nevertheless, my initial shock piqued my interest to sniff again, and I actually haven't regretted the investment so far.
It starts with a moderately appealing reddish blend of sober rose with a certain berry-like sprightliness, somewhat synthetic but nowhere near as bad as, for example, the entire banana plastic menagerie.
Then, a pleasantly musky makeup bag scent quickly mixes in, which I would like to last longer, but it is soon overshadowed by a soft and pleasantly patchouli-like chocolatiness. It starts somewhere at milk chocolate and, after a while, arrives at dark chocolate. At that point, the red berries make their definitive breakthrough, bringing with them not only fruitiness but also a bitter twist that completes the unisex character of a fragrance I can easily imagine on men without feeling uncomfortable as a woman.
The whole thing is very dense and present, has a distinct character (whether one likes it or not), and initially seems quite intense, so it should really be applied cautiously.
The sillage initially spreads widely but later settles close to the skin. Because, in fact, Silky is quite a cuddly scent and doesn’t bite when approached carefully. For me, this is clearly a winter fragrance that wraps warmly and softly in crisp cold, and yes, I like it.

Good Mood Fragrance
Today, a bargain scent. It is available at DM, mostly as an EdC. As an EdC, it is perfectly sufficient. It is strong, with a high recognition value. Almost a bit loud.

At the first spray, the sensory impression is bubblegum, those thick marbles we knew as children from the vending machines. Those who like to reminisce will be less bothered by this and rather smile, it comes across as somewhat synthetic and very sweet. Once this first kick has faded, flowers come in, a whole abundance of them, as well as berries and a bit of dark green. It smells like an old-fashioned garden in summer, very strong, almost intoxicating - only the buzzing bees are missing. For an EdC, this is quite intense. After about an hour, the fragrance warms up and gains a certain depth, the patchouli harmonizes very well with the ever-present rose from that moment on. I actually don't associate the whole thing with silk, but rather with cotton and terry cloth, with summer! This summer feeling also runs through the base, warm, pleasant like sun rays on the face. In the warm base notes, the rose still mixes in absolutely dominantly, only now it is no longer so fresh, without dew, but rather somewhat faded. The whole thing has a heart-refreshing charm. A bit nostalgic and simple, sometimes somewhat rustic in its construction. The progression of the fragrance pyramid is somewhat rough in parts and falls a bit short among all the rose petals. The warm base carries heavily on the bouquet of flowers and must be careful not to be drowned in rose water.

In my conclusion, it's an "a little different" EdC for gloomy and dreary days. In winter, it actually needs less of a refreshment, but rather something to lift the mood and add color. For that, Silky Rose is just right. One should use it sparingly, the EdC could easily pass as an EdT, which also applies to its longevity. In summer, it would be too intrusive and too penetrating for me. For cool days, it is a promise that it will get warmer again.

Regarding the fragrance progression. It starts somewhat like a childhood memory of bubblegum marbles.
A slight flair of cologne. This impression disappears very quickly, and a fireworks display of flowers emerges sweetly and richly, individual flowers are hard to distinguish. These are roses, large garden roses. This one-dimensional impression is expanded by dark green notes of berries and patchouli into another dimension. Thus, it never drifts into cloyingly sweet territory and retains a certain grounding. Over time, the base comes in, which indeed brings a depth that one wouldn't attribute to the fragrance and gives it warmth. The whole thing is accompanied by roses from beginning to end. It lasts a long time, a good 5 to 6 hours, so it's not suitable for layering. Even after a thorough shower, it is still there. Anyone planning to wear another fragrance should only spritz Silky Rose for longer leisure activities, as it is very penetrating.

For me, it is a nice winter fragrance when it is cold or rainy and the mood is gloomy. Then "Pink Water" is really fun.

Not much rose, despite the name it plays more of a supporting role; more berry-like. Reminds me a bit of jontue, just diluted. Close to the skin; okay.
