Aukai
intensely floral-fresh and rather not unisex
It was that time again, I ordered samples from ALzD and browsed through the selection. Boréale caught my attention - not least because of the fragrance description (copied from ALzD):
"Boréale is a phase in our lives when everything seems different and nothing is ordinary. Boréale is a blend of sea freshness, amber, musk, and sweet vanilla. A nightly world of feelings that enriches the mind and soul. A long journey, packed with promises and dreams. Dreaming becomes an art!"
I was particularly drawn to the term "sea freshness." And in its own way, this fragrance is fresh, although not sea-fresh; to my nose, it’s more like "standing under the shower and lathered with Dove" fresh. However, musk and vanilla then add a bit of sweetness and a hint (and it really is just a hint for me!) of animalic notes to the whole.
I find the sentence "A long journey, packed with promises and dreams" well embodied. The fragrance promised me sea freshness, which I dreamed of. An unpleasant awakening for my nose: the scent is very floral in the top and heart notes, and I do not like extreme floral fragrances. And I don’t necessarily need sweet vanilla either. What a pity. I would have liked to enjoy it.
My conclusion: just because my nose tends to prefer earthy notes - I miss a wood note here, something leathery, perhaps a bit of oak moss or a musty patchouli note, something smoky, the note of a burnt match or something like that - does not mean the fragrance is bad. In any case, it is interesting, as it conveys the scent of purity, stepping fresh out of the shower, floral-fresh laundry, and combines this with warm-sweet vanilla and a hint of animalic. The projection is definitely above average; you can smell a small spritz clearly without having to constantly move your nose to your arm. It is definitely generous in that regard.
I perceive the fragrance as an absolute women's scent. It is definitely not unisex to my nose.
