I've Smelled You 1000 Times...
The title reflects my first association with Chrysalide. Chrysalide also came to me through a purchase at the souk. I wasn't familiar with the brand before, nor did I know what to expect after spraying it.
After spraying, the whole topic is quickly settled. Here comes the Oud/Rose combination, which is truly inflationary when European brands try to create something oriental; yes, I call it "creating" because it unfortunately always ends in the same result. I must concede to Chrysalide that at least a zesty top note was used here. Bergamot, grapefruit, and vetiver provide a fresh twist, but what can I say? After 15-20 minutes, the groundhog greets us again. Oud/Rose with a bit of incense makes this scent completely interchangeable and characterless. I really don't want to always rate such fragrances poorly, but this inflationary, generic, and forced attempt to create an oriental scent does not end well here either. Chrysalide particularly suffers from my review because, aside from the top note, this pattern has been taken to the extreme.
Let me briefly describe the scent: Boring
That's how children/teenagers would describe it. Unfortunately, Chrysalide annoys me for the reasons mentioned above; of course, this won't be a complete takedown, but rather a critical discussion about something that irritates me and has been pushed to the limit here.
The longevity is solid. It lasts a good 10 hours, and the sillage is pleasant, slightly more than an arm's length, until it starts to become intimate after about 6 hours.
