Amber with a light banana vibe
I can clearly smell the bananas only in the openning: here they are rather a fresh fruits with a tart green peel blended together with violet and fig leaves. But it quickly develops into a heavier composition enriched with powdery ylang-ylang, sweet tonka beans and soft amber, and remains like that until its drydown - a very pleasant creamy Amber with yellow floral pollen and a just a slight hint of dried bananas. It’s an interesing, long-lasting and exotic smell I enjoy a lot, just wish its “banana” openning was longer!

A blend of jasmine and candied bananas
Bana Banana opens with a fruity banana note that quickly transforms into a more complex, sappy banana leaf accord. Jasmine emerges soon after, adding depth and sweetness to the banana aspect.

The banana leaf is complemented by violet leaf, giving it a subtle greenness, while nutmeg and tonka bean add warmth without overwhelming the composition. A powdery iris adds a classic and feminine touch to the fragrance, and later fades into a soft, clean musk in the drydown.

Bana Banana achieves a balance of depth and richness without heaviness, making it an approachable scent that is suitable for year-round wear.

Banana!
Hello Kevin, hello Bob,
today I have to tell you something crazy: I am currently traveling through Europe with my ukulele, in a country called Germany. Unfortunately, due to something they call Corona, you can no longer perform in clubs there. So yesterday, I was walking through the streets frustrated and hungry when suddenly the delicious smell of bananas wafted into my nose. Those sweet bananas must have been sent by our Minion god or maybe Grus! So I quickly took a look and checked where the enchanting scent was coming from. The source turned out to be a female person. This person must have somehow hidden bananas. But I couldn't see where. So I cleverly took up the chase.

The person went into a house where she apparently lived, but strangely, she didn't unpack any bananas there either. Of course, I secretly sneaked inside. The bananas, which were initially big, yellow, sweet bananas, like we love them, began to change. Somehow I must have been mistaken; it now smelled like those small, green bananas, the ones we only take when there are no others. And then it was as if the bananas crumbled into grass! Actually, it smelled quite good, but I was so hungry!

I then lingered a bit in the house and tried to find something else edible, but there was nothing. And when I got closer to the female person, it smelled as if the bananas were lying in dry grass and were no longer sweet and even moldy! Can you imagine that? Actually, bananas never mold; they turn black and sweeter and then become glossy and slippery - oh, what I would give for a slippery banana!

I started to feel scared being alone with this female person in this strange country in this house. What if she had used banana magic to catch Minions like us? I hid myself a bit better and thought about how I could get out of this prison unseen without the witch noticing me. In the meantime, the whole prison smelled of grass and wood and as if the witch had smeared herself with that dry musk stuff that Grus sometimes uses.

It became increasingly eerie, and I wished so much that you were there to help me get out. I then found food in a bowl on the floor in the kitchen; it was some crunchy stuff, tasted horrible, but hunger drove it in, and then - you can't imagine this - this creature, this animal that witches always keep, came. I think that was its food! I ran away, tripping over my ukulele. Panic! The monster animal from the witch was chasing me, but I was lucky in misfortune; I found a small flap that led directly outside, the creature followed me, but when I fell again with my ukulele and hit the strings, it fled.

And then - you won't believe it - I accidentally saw through the window that the witch pulled out a little bottle, sprayed it multiple times, and the incredibly delicious banana scent was back. It penetrated through that flap, and I ran away as fast as I could!
I have rarely missed you so much! I will leave as soon as possible.

Your Stuart

Don't come near me with your banana!!!
Hey guys… yeah I know… don’t say anything… my title probably sounds more than offensive right now! :D
But it’s not like that at all. And if the term banana should serve as a synonym for a male member, then this time it actually came from a woman. To be precise, from a perfumer! But let’s take it step by step.

I met up again with a dear friend who happens to be here in the forum as well. And as our meet-ups usually go, it proceeded quite normally as always, which means: Off to Douglas, sniffing, then out and to the next fragrance store. Along the way, a few dirty jokes from my side (did you expect anything else? … Wait, I’m not THAT bad!!!), or sometimes a few riskier jokes that could lead to a fist on the shoulder (a tip: apparently, you shouldn’t make jokes about a woman’s age… :DD), and in between, a coffee or two.

At some point, we discovered a store that even had many L’Artisan fragrances. These are quite rare to find here in Frankfurt, and my companion suddenly discovered this banana scent while sniffing, which really intrigued me because I generally like bananas. While she immediately wrinkled her nose, I couldn’t get enough of the top note that smelled so wonderfully of banana :D

And when I jokingly told her that I would now rub this banana scent on her so that she would only have to endure this scent until she got home, she fled and said something like: “No, no, if someone is allowed to come near me with their banana, then it’s my boyfriend!” Mu ha ha ha!!!

See? I really only meant a banana, namely the banana scent, but she thought of a… um, quickly swelling organ of guys and… well, anyway, SHE first thought of something indecent, mu ha ha ha, yet another proof that I’m not as bad as I come across here, RIGHT? :DDD

But let’s get to the scent:

The Scent:
So as I said, the top note immediately smells of pure banana. A wonderfully fruity-sweet banana scent wafts out, which simply smells great if you like banana scents. Occasionally, it even comes across as slightly milky and reminds me of Müller milk with banana flavor. Sometimes, however, it also reminds me of the inner peel of bananas, which exude a strong banana scent and smell a bit bitter.
However, shortly after, the scent becomes a bit more perfumey. You can also smell a few light spicy notes in the background, such as pepper and nutmeg. However, these fragrance notes are generally weak, so the banana is essentially the main scent note all the way to the base.
From the base, the bananas are noticeably weaker, so that now the tonka bean can be smelled more and more, which gives off a nice, soft, slightly dark sweet scent. The musk also fits well, offering a similar sweetness to the tonka bean, so it’s also rather dark. By the way, I smell amber less. And that’s basically it. All in all, a scent that sits nicely in the nose, but you mainly wonder at the beginning whether you really want to smell so strongly of bananas :D

The Sillage and Longevity:
The sillage is initially quite strong, but it fades fairly quickly and settles into an average range that is only still good to smell from close by for a while. The longevity is also not extremely long, so I would estimate the longevity at about six to eight hours before you can hardly smell anything anymore.

The Bottle:
Since the scent is new, it comes in the new bottles from Artisan. The bottle is hexagonal just like the old one, but these bottles have been dark tinted for some time now. The cap is also hexagonal and is heavier than it looks. Otherwise, the bottle is quite handy and, in my opinion, looks very nice.

So, that was the banana scent from L’Artisan. Admittedly, you don’t really smell a scent like this, one with a banana note, every day. I can hardly remember a scent where I perceived such an intense and distinct banana note, well, aside from the Demeter scent Banana Flambée, which is also very nice.

Anyway, with this scent, one is constantly indecisive. On one hand, the scent might smell really great to you. On the other hand, you wonder whether you really want to smell so intensely of bananas, which, despite its nice scent, is indeed an unusual scent note. You really have to think about this carefully and possibly test the scent several times, although the scent naturally becomes more perfumey over time, as it only has a rather light fruity touch towards the end and thus smells more of tonka and musk, which is also very nice. Only in the end, the sillage is quite weak.

Otherwise, I can imagine the scent as a kind of relaxation scent for oneself, when you simply have time for yourself, are at home, and apply this scent just for yourself. Well, as I said, you just have to test it to know what I mean. I find it somehow very delicious :D

Maybe also um… lickable… mu ha ha ha, this is also a term from the perfumer I met recently. Yes, yes, I say biteable, right? But she said “lickable” (though not in connection with this scent here, which she found quite terrible…). He he he, better hope that I don’t use this term in the future, as it sounds so “below the belt” :DD

Well, that’s it from me again. I wish you all a nice evening :)

It Doesn't Get More Banana Than This
Since I had never tried a fragrance with the theme of banana before, I was extremely curious about this new release from L'Artisan Parfumeur. And what can I say given the name Bana Banana: You want banana, you get banana... and indeed a whole, intensely fragrant bunch of bananas.

While I initially imagined the banana to lean towards a tropical-sweet, somewhat dense and sultry direction (I could have just read the entire fragrance pyramid), the Bana Banana banana (please repeat that three times quickly) is dressed in a very prominent iris-powder veil. So, anyone expecting an intrusive, syrupy-sweet artificial banana can rest assured. Thanks to the iris and other slightly floral hints, likely attributed to jasmine, the fruit loses some of its authenticity, but remains distinctly recognizable and dominant as a medium-ripe, possibly even slightly green banana. Only after quite a while does the tonka bean timidly make its presence known, without the leading banana ever taking its leave.

Bana Banana fits perfectly for spring and can fully unleash its strength on moderately warm days. Since banana scents are anything but mainstream, this perfume allows for a highly creative and individual expression. In terms of sillage and longevity, the fragrance performs only moderately, making it quite wearable indoors as well. However, one must also be clear: You definitely smell like banana. Whether one wants that or not is something everyone must decide for themselves. Personally, I like the scent, but it would quickly become annoying if worn too often. On laid-back days, when you don't take yourself too seriously (and perhaps when there isn't an important business meeting or job interview on the horizon), this fragrance can definitely bring joy to you and the monkey troop around you.

It's like the cotton candy with banana flavor. It's quite sweet and it reminds me of good childhood memories.

Testing this with a 10 ml. First impressions -- I like this, but it reminds me of something I've smelled before, but can't place.

All banana and synthetic, but unfortunately great. The mix of fruit, flowers, and creamy tonka sweetness works for my nose. Fun.

First dry-powdery banana powder for milk,
then floral-green-powdery. Plus tonka cream.
Somehow funny and exciting!

I wasn't sure if banana blossom actually smells like banana, but it does. I'm kind of too old for such gimmicks.

The L'Artisan kitchen serves bananas dusted with tonka powdered sugar in an artful flower bowl. Fun and original, but a bit flashy and sweet.
