A unique aquatic
Reading reviews prior to testing, I got the opinion that Cote d'Amour was going to be a 'straight down the line' aquatic, with all those oceanic qualities that I personally find irritating. I was really pleased to discover that this was not the case.

It does have aquatic tendencies, but it's not an aquatic in the traditional sense. At first spray it smelt like fresh, watery cucumber and pink musk sticks. Amazing combination I must say.

The sweet muskiness stays on throughout the composition, and I believe this scent is brought about by the immortelle flower, (which I have never smelt in real life). The heart introduces some unique smells like herbaceous rosemary, rich, woodsy pine, zesty grapefruit and a hint of powdery rose. The way in which they blend is almost phenomenal. If Summer always smelt like this, I swear I would enjoy the hot season more than I do.

Cote d'Amour does tend to be on the lighter side, especially more towards the drydown, however the soft sillage did not reflect the lasting strength, which lasted a good eight hours on my skin. What I thought would be a scrubber turned out to be a fragrance that I loved wearing for the rest of the day.

I give Cote d'Amour the big thumbs up for its unique composition, and another tick in the box for the way in which it kept me perplexed, yet under its spell. L'Artisan hasn't made a mistake with this fragrance, no not at all.

Study of the Air
Côte d'Amour is a really uniqe fragrance. Quite fresh and creamy, and maybe rosemary makes it smell as paprika, but only for 1-2 minutes. The sequel stage is more impressive and sweet, even though the sillage is so weak, that my skin get pressed from my nose, if I want to feel something. I would like to feel this interesting, refreshing and thougth-provoking fragrance, but unfortunately I am glad, if it stays 2 hours long.
Some perfumes don't mind if I lay another perfume on them, and after dissipate they consider to come back for a last leer. Côte d'Amour does not belong among those perfumes, even if you pray, it will not last longer.

(I tested it from sample vial, without spray.)

not this perfumer's best
When I first smelled the decant before putting it on, it was a pretty salty-mineral smell very similar to Ms. Ellena's earlier Sel de Vetiver. But when I put it on, it's just a pretty, gentle woody-spice scent of no particular artistry. It could easily have been concocted by someone less talented, blending essential oils at home. Most perfumes last very well on me, but this is gone in less than an hour. I want to like these "natural" perfumes, but perhaps I've been spoiled by the artificial ones? If this sort of thing interests you, go for her gorgeous Sel de Vetiver (The Different Company) instead. (090609)

Salt on Our Skin
When they first met in their youth, George, the Parisian intellectual, and Gauvin, a Breton fisherman, had no idea that this encounter would change their lives forever.
Soon ignited by love and passion for each other, both are aware that a shared future in terms of living together, family, and daily life is not possible for them, as their environments, backgrounds, and goals are too different. Despite all obstacles, they still live their happiness, stealing moments together, even though both have their own partnerships, often not seeing each other for years, and yet, it is love that endures into old age and only finds an end through death.
To love means to remain two, to the point of being torn apart, writes Benoît Groult in her 1992 book, originally titled Les Vaisseaux du Coeur, the vessels of the heart.
Vaisseaux also means ships. George and Gauvin are like two ships that meet in the night, only to follow their own course again.

Côte d'Amour, the coast of love, could be the fitting scent for this Amour Fou. A refuge just for the two protagonists, a place beyond time and everyday life.
Initially minimally citrusy, here salt, sand, and sea air are the main themes. Caressing breezes, by no means artificial or piercing, as I unfortunately have to note in other fragrances of this category, gently embrace the nose.
Dune grass, coniferous woods, and even faint rosemary provide soft undertones and ensure balance and well-being, before a delicate floral note emerges, evoking thoughts of the way home from the beach, past blooming front gardens.

A lovely break from everyday life and a summer-sun longing fragrance that I would not have discovered so quickly without Hasi and her wonderful giveaway.

The Coast of Love Lies by the Mediterranean!
I hesitated for a very long time before purchasing this fragrance. But since it is no longer available regularly, I bought an OVP bottle in France at a really good price. Because my coast of love lies by the Mediterranean! Undoubtedly!

The opening contains the complete fragrance collection of the Mediterranean: it smells of salt on sun-warmed skin, rubbed with sunscreen, it smells of immortelle, that creamy soft-scented coastal plant, of jasmine from the gardens near the coast, still faint and delicate, as it will only unfold its full scent at night, of sea and sea foam, of sand so hot that it is hardly bearable to walk on, and of pines that defy the hot sun. It smells of ripe, sweet (citrus) fruits, of wildflowers, and of wood.

After a rather loud but beautiful opening, Côte d'Amour becomes soft and creamy and melds directly with my skin.

This is a fragrance for summer, truly beautiful from 25° C upwards. Once the fragrance has developed - this happens within the first 15 minutes - it doesn’t change much anymore. After a few hours, it only becomes slightly woodier in the dry down.

Nowhere else does it smell like this, as it does by the Mediterranean. Nowhere else is the light as radiant as by the Mediterranean. Nowhere else do I feel the same as by the Mediterranean. Nowhere else is it as beautiful as by the Mediterranean.

My bottle is much more beautiful than the one pictured above, and the fragrance is a knockout. I really cannot understand why L'Artisan has taken this fragrance out of their range.

Anyone who likes this type of fragrance should - if offered - grab it immediately!

This is the broom I know from the Alb. Creamy blossom with a bitter herb touch and a waxy candle smoke note.

After the shower, she takes a walk along the North Sea coast. The spray hits her creamed face, seaweed gets caught in her hair.
