A Comfort Scent

Creamy coconut & salty suede through to a musky heart.
A mainly vanillic, savory scent with a dry down of soft, woody, steamed rice/vanilla in the ilk of KENZO AMOUR, minus any floral notes. 6 hour longevity with one spray per wrist, starts with a satisfyingly intimate aura and ends skin close.

Not bad but...

I recently tested this fragrance and I liked: it's very feminin and easy to wear, expecially in springtime with its flowery-peppery bouquet. But I smell many synthetic notes and I remember the glorious fragrances made by La Perla in the 80es and 90es: they were another world!

In my mind ...

... I remembered that this may smell a lot like a new obsession of mine, Musc Des Sables by Les Indemodables. That heavy orris, suedy-powdery vibe. Good news, I was damn close! La Perla is definitely more "synthetic" (lacks the luxurious ambergris accord of MdS), but has a very similar vibe. The quality is obviously different because MdS goes for $5/ml, which is beaucoup dollars. Until I can save for MdS, La Mia will certainly scratch the itch.

La Mia is a great boudoir-style powdery vanilla floral. Perfect aesthetic for a lingerie brand (just like Agent Provocateur), fluffy, sultry. Lots of dusty/powdery iris/orris. Earthy and sweet. Discontinued but still can be found for decent price on gray market.

Shakespeare in love

“Desecrate my hand boldly, oh holy image, so I will sweetly atone for it. Two pilgrims, my lips bend to sweeten the harsh pressure in the kiss...”
These lines from Shakespeare's “Romeo & Juliet” could hardly describe the scent of “La Mia Perla” more accurately.

Initially, I found the scent beautiful, yet somehow insignificant. Unaware of the effect it is capable of unleashing, I hastily stamped it with the label “light fare” and “common women's fragrance.”
A great mistake, as would soon become apparent. For this fragrance, despite its enormous delicacy, certainly has character.
This love poem in the form of a scent is no simple platitude. Here, genuine passion is indeed at play, albeit of a more subtle nature. The eroticism that resonates in the creamy-powdery nuances is hard to grasp, although it is omnipresent. “La Mia Perla” wonderfully maintains the balance between innocent sweetness and a sensually enchanting melt. This fragrance embodies a longing for complete devotion, a sensual intensity that, while kept in check for everyday wear, can nonetheless elicit a wistful sigh.
The intimacy and deep desire that resonate in the words of Shakespeare quoted at the beginning of this comment also emanate from this gossamer, incredibly lovely fragrance. A soft siren song, hardly to be surpassed in femininity.

Those who appreciate tenderness and sensuality might just love “La Mia Perla.”

Soft Lace

I bought it for my wedding; it matched perfectly with my ivory wedding dress, complemented by matching lingerie underneath. Wrapped in this fine, warm, seductive scent, one immediately felt like wearing the exclusive lingerie from la Perla. I had the beautiful fragrance in my nose all day; it lasted well with the matching body lotion and was even still noticeable in the evening. Not intrusive, but delicate like pearls and lace with silk. The bottle actually has the wrong color; ivory or pearl white with lace embellishments would suit it better.
