Pretty but I was expecting more
In my search for the perfect neroli fragrance, I stumbled upon Les Eaux Primordiales, and Neroli Supercritique was the scent that ultimately persuaded me to order samples from the house. While neroli takes the lead with its vibrant and sunny character, the jasmine in the blend introduces a surprising twist.
The jasmine leans into its indolic facet—something I don’t typically gravitate towards. However, the way it’s blended with the neroli creates an intriguing contrast, balancing freshness with depth. It’s not a straightforward love for me due to the jasmine, but the overall composition is compelling enough that I’m eager to explore more from this house.
It fades nicely over the day, but I was expecting something more from the dry-down. Once the florals evaporate, you’re left with some classic musky-vanillic base notes that feel a bit lackluster in my opinion. I think I would have preferred something woody to anchor the fragrance. Ultimately, it didn’t become my favorite from this house.
