Herb Tension with a Green Heart
There are fragrances that I didn't know existed until about three quarters of a year ago, let alone that I would ever get to smell them. Then chance came to my aid.
When a good friend's grandmother passed away shortly after reaching her 107th birthday, she left behind a whole "battery" of ancient fragrances, many of which she wore until the end. "A different scent every day! Depending on the weather and mood!" was one of Mrs. W.'s mantras. And since my friend knew that I am "crazy about scents" and she didn't know what to do with the approximately 40 fragrances of her grandmother, I became the "heir".
I was (and still am) quite astonished by what was included. Today, I came across the still half-full "Opening Night." "Finally need to test it!" Unbelievable that it still smells just as it should. The "top note" is a little weak, but after a brief 5 minutes, something wonderfully green-woody comes together that I find incredibly exciting. Bitter herbal notes gradually enrich themselves with sandalwood and a bit of patchouli. A fine floral scent, very bright and fresh, lies above it. And something floral-herbaceous, it could be lavender and/or rosemary, under the green, shimmering main note. And the whole thing lasts a very long time and is well perceptible. A scent that probably suited Mrs. W.'s character very well: resolute, somewhat "strict," but good-natured, humorous, as well as serious and credible. She loved going into the woods or sitting by the stream for a long time, listening to the babbling of the water.
She was quite vital until almost the end... she simply fell asleep......
And the magic of her fragrances still has magical power!
