Tiny drop left

Oh My... Only a tiny drop left in a very old mini. Light pink bakelite top. Like fine cognac, she has aged beautifully. Top notes gone but oh what a base. It has that same lovely powder of L´Heure Bleue, a tiny tiny hint of burnt rubber but oh so trace. I find these old beauties can be aged in a way that still makes them interesting and pleasant. They can be sweet without being cloying.

Longing is the name of an old song of the Taiga,

that my mother sang back then.
Longing was in the play of the balalaika
when it sounded in the evening in front of the house.

So sang it at that time Alexandra with her dark, melancholic voice.

And dark and melancholic is also the scent. It smells resinous, earthy, mossy, green, and woody, with only a few small floral hints.

It is the scent of the forest, captured here in a bottle. If it weren't for the flowers, it would almost be a fougère, in my opinion. But unlike that, Balalaika is a soft scent, without any sweetness. Like a walk in the woods in autumn, when the leaves fall, the air and the earth are damp, and that very particular smell of wood, resin, decaying leaves, acorns on the ground, mushrooms, and moist moss hangs in the air.

Balalaika is not a scent for me, but a very interesting composition, quite suitable for unisex.

It lasts well, the sillage is rather weak, making the scent close to the body.

The extrait bottle is incredibly beautiful, with its gold spiral, but the heavy, square EdT bottle is also a puristic, classic beauty.
