Oh!Geil!
To be honest, I have no idea what the name "Orgueil" of the fragrance means. I haven't looked it up either. My French skills are limited to "Merde" and "Merci," which doesn't really speak for a woman of the world. But I come from the East, we didn't have that here.
But that's beside the point. Anyway, when I applied Orgueil, I thought: "Oh!Geil!"
Oops, there's no pyramid here! What do I do now?
Pin my delightful and delighted nose to my arm!
Old hut (for newcomers, my synonym for aldehydes) with a fine soapy note and surely a few citrus fruits borrowed from Spain. Not lemony sour, but clean with a hint of sweetness. Maybe orange blossoms?
In the heart note - and I bet every 5th snake on my head - the powder fairy Iris takes center stage. Dusty, dry, but keeping other flowers in check. Tuberose in sweet sultriness, lilac, violets are not in it. If they are, I'll buy a round.
In any case, wood is being grated in the base. But no sweet wood. Moss! Without moss, nothing's happening, and there we have the chypre. Light earthiness! Patchouli or not. A few cedar needles have made their way into the bottle in the lab.
Yes, I wouldn't shove it off the shelf..
Addendum. Cristalle says it. Leather? I don't think so, but a little peeing tomcat could be it, because the fragrance has an animalic depth and reminds me of "Zibeline."

Pride and Prejudice
Turn of the century 18th/19th century. A group of young people in the countryside near London, with the Bennet family at the center, three of whose five daughters eventually get successfully married. When choosing partners, it is about the individual balance of love, economic security, and social standing. Through intrigues and misunderstandings - namely pride and prejudice - the start of an independent life is influenced and delayed.

Above all, the story of the main protagonists, Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy, contributes to the events of the novel. From Mr. Darcy's initial aversion to Elizabeth, affection grows, then love, which he wishes to crown with a - deliciously botched - marriage proposal. Elizabeth, wounded in her pride, rejects the proposal after being influenced by Mr. Wickham's malicious tongue, who blames Mr. Darcy for his own failures.

Subsequently, Mr. Darcy writes Elizabeth a long letter, in which he clarifies everything, and Elizabeth must shamefully realize that she has been guided by pride and prejudice.

During a visit to her uncle, Elizabeth also goes to Mr. Darcy's estate and sees him for the first time differently, lovable, engaging, and polite.

As the story progresses, Mr. Darcy intervenes to protect the reputation of Elizabeth's sister Lydia and thus the whole family, by facilitating the marriage of Lydia and Mr. Wickham. Elizabeth's sister Jane also finds her happiness through Mr. Darcy's influence on his friend Mr. Bingley, and the two marry as well.

The intrigue of Darcy's aunt against Elizabeth ultimately has the exact opposite effect of what was desired, and Darcy turns back to Elizabeth. Elizabeth finally agrees and marries Mr. Darcy.

Gong, curtain, happy ending!

This beautifully romantic yet educational story was in my mind when I tested Orgueil yesterday. Lucien Lelong is slowly becoming one of my favorite brands. The fragrances are interesting and tell a story.
There are still Lucien Lelong fragrances available for purchase, although I cannot judge whether they still correspond to the compositions of that time.

Orgueil (I am testing a vintage) is a wonderful, very interesting fragrance. The opening has an alcoholically fresh-fruity aspect, like a Williams Christ pear with a juicy peach, and sets the stage beautifully for the scent. The transition to the green-toned, unsweetened heart note is slow and soft. Somewhere, jasmine mixes into the scene, timid and light. Nevertheless, spicy green accords prevail - in my opinion, nutmeg and cardamom - which are accompanied by flowers, not the other way around.

Very elegant, unsweet, proud, and self-assured, Orgueil develops on my skin. This fragrance fits perfectly with my image of Elizabeth Bennet-Darcy, this self-assured, proud young woman who had to overcome a few hurdles to find her happiness in the end.

I perceive the base as the happy hours of Elizabeth after her marriage to Mr. Darcy. The base is vanillic soft, but not vanillic in an overpowering way. Sandalwood gives it a very fine and noble soapy quality that perfectly complements this fragrance. There is also a very fine animalic note integrated here, but so perfectly that it never stands out negatively.

The sillage is discreetly elegant, just as it should be for a noble lady like Elizabeth. The longevity is good - at least 10 hours on me.

I love fragrances that tell me a story and make me dream. Perhaps I should read "Pride and Prejudice" again…

In a wooden drawer, you find dryness: plum, nutmeg, cloves, herbs, moss. Then iris and rose float in: now it’s rounded!

A great blend of flowers, spices, and fruits on a chypre base. The dry, slightly crinkled character emphasizes..

Arrogance doesn’t come after this glorious full-blood aroma. Truly a proud perfume, dry flowers, les temps perdus.

Floriental somewhere between Youth-Dew, Cinnabar, and Opium, a bit more classic - with a Chypre structure as a corset: antique, not outdated!
